Highly Doubting 24th Release date

Im highly doubting the 24th a release date now. I mean VZW told the public a couple in wks in advance that the Iphone would be available on the 10th. Seems odd that VZW is going to announce the sale of this phone on the 24th or whenever and not give it some kind of advance notice of their first ever 4g lte phone. I could be wrong and I hope that I am but idk things look bleak. :(
 
I'm holding out hope for the 28th. (Crossing fingers and toes.) I wonder if there was some sort of marketing restriction in the Apple contract? Maybe a conspiracy theory, but remember the death grip? LOL!

Yea but they were not advertising the iPhone while they were still trying to work the bugs out.

Right, I agree with you but to continue.. I don't think they should be advertising a phone that gets peoples hopes up for an imminent launch when they haven't finished testing it. So since it seems they are doing what we call in the Hardware/Software community as spiral developement on the Thunderbolt, they should have kept quiet about it until it passed QA/QC. Am I wrong?

I'm thinking that the 24th is not very likely as well. This is because they are advertising the Xoom which launches the 24th, but not the Thunderbolt. I am pretty sure Verizon would state a launch date at least a week in advance on their first 4G LTE phone. Considering they are making a huge deal about the 4G LTE I find it hard to believe they would not make a huge deal about the Thunderbolt before it launches either. The 24th is only a few days away and we have yet to hear anything from Verizon about it so I am thinking it's looking like March.
 
Looking like the 28th may be a stretch too. Heck, they are already screwing up the Xoom release:

At launch:

1. No microsd function (big problem if internal not mapped as the microsd)
2. No Flash
3. No 4G

Now THAT is a screwed up launch for almost $900 out of pocket for a device!
 
This is just wishful thinking here, but if they do release in the next four to seven days, who's to say they won't market it to death after the release? Like J was saying about BB and the dummy units, sometimes they don't get them until after the release. Look at the INC, even after the back-orders got caught up, it was a while before they started heavier marketing. Just trying to stay positive. :D
 
I think a march release seems more like it. I think the thunderbolt has many issues that they need to get worked out which is why they wont release a solid release date. They are still working out the kinks and see people already complaining when no release date was announced so if they announced a date and didnt meet it people would be even more ticked!

That is a good point, hope your optimism works out for all of us in the end. :-)

I agree, I don't think they had any promo's on the Incredible until after the shortage was fixed. The only big deal was employees dressed in black Droid shirts for launch day and even that was lack luster. I walked into a stor on launch day and got mine after they were open for an hour. No waits.
 
I just called my verizon store and asked if it would be hitting the 24th or 28th and saif neither...there is no release date yet. But I have seen others say that theur veizon told them the 24th
 
Wishful thinking is good but the Inc was also not the first 4G LTE phone so I am not buying the fact that Verizon will not market it pre-launch
 
They've got people's attention with all of the advertising they've done. It wouldn't take much to just throw a day out there even if its only a couple days notice. In many other cases, there was not much advertising at all before the announcement of the date. In this case, they have doen a pretty big campaign already so I don't think there needs to be another one with dates included.

So perhaps, the hardware is ready and being shipped, and the only thing that is being worked on is a software upgrade that can be handled at the time of activation. If that's the case, there is no need for a lengthy pre-release. I think the potential deliveries this week to BB or VZW store will be a good indication of their plans. BBY will not want to sit on boxes of phones when they've already taken pre-orders. If they come in the next couple of days, it will be known by folks here and I don't see how VZW can say that they can't be sold.

They have kept quiet about it though, just because someone for Verizon, or Best Buy leaks something doesn't mean they have said anything about it. Wasn't yesterday the first day for officially released commercials? Not sure about that.

But Verizon has only said Q1 so far, sucks that employees are leaking information when nothing has been officially stated for release.
 
But what baffles me is that HTC announced last week that they would be shipping the device. If they still had issues with it then why announce it at MWC...seems odd
 
spoke at length today with an android-toting salesperson at a best buy mobile store in the local mall. he didn't have a set date for the thunderbolt but said that everything was in place to sell them and that he was fully expecting little to no warning as to when the phone is on sale. basically said he'd receive a shipment and the go-ahead to sell them and that would be it. so i wouldn't necessarily be waiting for an official "the phone will be released one week from today" announcement.

If it's a software issue, delaying the shipping wouldn't really make a difference. Once it has started production, the only way to fix the software is to provide an update. Essentially, the problems have no impact on HTC's hardware (hopefully).
