xScope, a multitouch pinch zoom browser

Thank you for getting back so quickly. I don't know about everyone else but this is very desirable for me. I don't have a problem with the permissions.

The only other thing I am patiently waiting for is the ability to input web addresses without having to put in http:// in front them and have it not go to google search everytime. I think I rem reading in this thread you had already discussed it and when the time comes it will hopefully make it into a future build.

This is related to location permission. The current browser asks for two permissions now:

1. Internet communication
2. Set preferred apps.

I can add location permission too (just a line of code) if this is desirable. It is going to be the third permission.

ok, bought this a week ago and really like watching it change and grow. I've got a couple of questions/requests.
since I set it as the 'default' browser, I can no longer load the Market from a barcode. I get a 'page not found' error
I know this is on the developers to do list but I'm big on being able to download within the browser.

I stumbled upon xScope in the market the other day, and it is now my default browser, which I've already recommended to others. Love the simplicity and speed. Please don't bloat it with features to the point where it loses that.

After using it for a couple of days, I'd really like to have a couple of command options appear on the virtual keyboard (.com and Go, where the .com command appends .com on the URL and where the Go command dismisses the virtual keyboard and launches the URL).

This lets one control the browser more simply without having to go back up from the keyboard to hit the right arrow. The browser that was pre-installed on my Droid has these two features and I've found them to be extremely user friendly.

Sorry for the late reply. So many parties lately.
It turned out that the one line permission didn't work so more research is needed to make the browser location aware.
The second one should be solved. You don't have to type "http://". For example, you type 'cnn.com' and click go, it will bring you to CNN's homepage.

I spent sometime on the download functions now and I will will able to solve it. If you unset it as default then visit any page, the Droid will ask for default action. There you choose default browser to fully reset to original settings.

I probably wasn't clear about what is happening. When I scan an app's barcode with Barcode Scanner and select xScope, I get a 'webpage not available' message. If I select Browser I am shunted straight to the Market. maybe it's not possible to perform this with a third party browser.

Is it possible to know the exact website it's trying to visit? For example, use default browser to check it and then get the actual webpage visited from history? Thanks. This might be valuable to me.

xscope, maybe i am missing something. love this, but want to be easily able to type url into browser. it comes up 'home'. to type, it seems you have to delete 'home' and type your url. Unless I am missing a simple way to do this, it would be great to just be able to click in the address area, and it would be selected then you can over type (like a computer browser).

alternatively, the way the browser works for BBs is that once the broswer is open, hitting the shortcut key 'g' brings up an address window with http://www. there, and you just type the rest of the address.

Anyone else want something where you can easily type the url (or tell me how to doit).

It supposed to be doing exactly what you are described. It doesn't work consistently however. I use click event to trigger selectAll. I will try a different event later to see.

So, you're saying I should expect to see xScope available for Hero (Android 1.5) in about a week or so? Cant wait!!!

And it's ok, now matter how low satisfaction results from my high expectations, xScope is still the smoothest multi-touch browser for Android i've seen!

I agree this is fantastic. Hopefully the permissions can be added later for the gps thing we talked about too.
