I still think it has to do with apple. I believe there is a certain number of phones vzw needs to hit or a deal that was made on getting the iphone. Until that number is close we will not see any firm release info. Just a guess
And it is gonna say something to the affect of...We would like to apologize to everybody that has pre-ordered the HTC Thunderbolt. Due to unforseen circumstances with HTC and Verizon, the Thunderbolt will no longer be available on the Verizon network. Please feel free to inquire about our buy back program for the new Verizon IPhone 4...

There is absolutely no way that VZW would agree to not release any new phones until they sold a certain number of iPhones. There is just way too much risk in that.
Now, they may have agreed to not release any new phones for some amount of time (i.e. 14 days) because that concretely bounds their risk. VZW was taking market share away from AT&T without the VZW iPhone and they didn't need the iPhone to continue growing (thank you Android!).

Normally I wouldn't venture down the "apple has that much pull" road but considering almost no info on a release date with the millions being spent to advertise is a little strange. I also point to the fact that apple has put a lot of restrictions on what vzw can do. Call and ask if you can bill the iphone to your account? Not happening due to "contract agreements" with apple. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if there is some sort of stipulation there.

You mean by them to pretend there isnt a problem and they are keeping it away from the public then yes. All I want is a release date! I dont care if its in may.

However I am getting my XOOM tomorrow, and:
The SD Card will not work at launch.
I have to send in to get LTE added.
There will be no FLASH.
Its $800 not on contract.
Sounds like they should have waited to launch, seems like this could have been the BOLT.
I am fine as they never gave a date, no official word from them, very upset, but oddly the XOOM misfit is not bothering me either.

I hope every sycophant that comes in here telling us that Verizon won't release this phone until it's right (obviously they didn't own an X at launch or a Fascinate ever) reads this post. To suggest that VZW is holding out to make a product "right" would be the LEAST logical explanation for not having a date.
Can you tell us if its good or bad news now? Haha
at this point, i am imagining that the phone must've been having some obvious functionality issues that had to be fixed. they are working to ensure it's not a problem before they ok the launch. market pressure (competition, public opinion) has reached a point that they would release the phone if it were essentially working well - even if certain functions weren't perfect, such as skype mobile.
vzw's previous hints at an ahead-of-schedule release date allude to the possibility that they initially thought the phone was ready and were responding to market pressure. clearly, that is not the case. reports tend to say that verizon is merely making sure their first 4g phone is perfect, but i think it's more like they want to make sure they don't go into battle with an unloaded weapon.

Have four line, never missed a payment and according to the agent I spoke to on the phone today, can charge any phone I want to my account except for iphones. Even went thru the website and verified it the same way when trying to setup a new line. Just reporting what I was told, sir
