From my experience (been with VZW 12 of the last 15 years) it's more like VZW is shooting HTC in the foot.

I asked if the buyback promo will be honored beyond the 26th for preorders and, if not, whether they will allow a return of the giftcard preorder since I went through BB for the free promo and otherwise can order through VZW. The rep put me on hold and said her and her boss agree that it should be honored and that I should go to the store and have the store manager (no one below them) sign something that it will be honored. The rep said they couldn't do that and that she'd call the store. I was place on hold. The rep came back with "good news" that the mobile manager would try to "work with me" and if he couldn't do the promo he would allow a refund. I told the rep that doesn't really make sense since I had told her I wanted to know whether to cancel my preorder within the return period and eventually go through VZW and that the mobile manager wouldn't know if he could honor it until I was in the store buying the phone. She had an epiphany moment and agreed with me. She put me on hold bc she recommended I spoke to customer relations. The same rep came back and said to go to the store and have the mobile manager do a refund on my preorder and re-ring with the free promo attached. I clarified that I wasn't looking for trouble and that it's just easier to make a phone call than to drive to the store and ask a question. I'm off to the store to see what happens (since customer relations hasn't been in touch with the store) and will report back. This is awkward.

Mobile manager said couldn't ring a free promo without a phone. Bottom line, consumer relations will either refund or give me a gift card for the price of the program if the manager can't over-ride on Monday (supposed new date). I really wouldn't have cared if they told me they couldn't extend the offer past the 26th from the getgo. Telling me to drive to the store and tell the mgr what to do really pissed me off. Not the manager's fault, nice guy.

Apple gave it that name to show the power it has over VZW n everyone who thinks the iPhone is a big seller and a must have for their company. When every cellularservice get the iPhone then what? Lmao

They not. Don't be surprised to not see any dual core phones headed VZW way this year from HTC. This is why they made T-Mobile their primary phone company with their phone. Kinda how Apple did with ATT n Motorola did with VZW til they got in bed with good ole Apple... sad truths

I don't think the phone is getting shipped tomorrow to any stores. If they were going to ship in the inventory system it would show on order. It has to show "on order" because they have to count the inventory when they are received. Items do not magically show up when they are not "on order." Second the store is not going to have the items in stock and not show up in the inventory, in the long time that i have been working, Best Buy has NEVER done that, if their is a restriction on the item they jack up the price to say 10,000 so no one will sell or they keep the product in a safe location in the store, but it shows in the inventory system. Once again they have to track inventory. Third I heard the 28th but i heard that its pushed back further than that for some unknown reason. Lets all dwell on what the reason could be? Skype? 1st 4G phone? Maybe its the voice and data feature that is causing a problem. Why did Verizon state in their training that not every customer will have the same experience or tell its reps not to talk about that as a feature, maybe because its a big problem for the phone. It is the 1st Verizon phone to do data and voice simultaneously so I'm sure it could have problems. I for one am just as anxious as everyone but I'm expecting the phone to be delayed at least for another week maybe even two

i like how we are pretending that sales for the tbolt aren't going to kill whenever it actually gets released. htc and verizon (and best buy) are taking their licks now from tbolt enthusiasts (see: fanatics), but the history books will probably tell a different story - one of huge sales numbers and adoration for a new phone in a new 4g frontier. the whole "release fiasco" will probably be nothing but a footnote to anyone but those that experienced it firsthand, which i must say, is still a minority of those that will eventually own this phone.

but, that's just my opinion. i sure won't forget, but my scars will heal.
