Battery Issues causing delay?

If you're going to throw down $250 to possibly $299 on a phone, I'd think you'd want to have good battery life (at least I would). TB is a bust. Can't wait for Verizon to start dealing out new devices.

What color is the Thunderbolt in that picture? Looks kinda like light bronze or something. Like the black Incredible better. Just an opinion.

HTC just cant seem to get battery life right.. My X will last almost 2 days without charging, although I dont talk much on it. But I use data all the time and text. On my incredible I was lucky to get 13 hours, with the Siedio extra capacity battery.

Oh well, I was considering a TB, looks like not anymore.

Seriously now! This was stated months ago, did any of you really think this thing was going to have good battery life? HTC is famous for terrible battery life...And you wont have to look far to find out how bad it really is....The Droid Inc & HTC EVO are 2 good examples, while both awesome phones, the battery life was just terrible on both.

Now throw in 4G LTE with the TB and you have a disaster on your hands with a 1450 battery. This is the downfall guys, batteries are not evolving with the phones. And while phones keep getting faster processors, and bigger screens, the batteries stay the same...the end result is crappy battery life! The Thunderbolt is late to the dance, but vzw blaming battery life to me is a cop out. The phone has been tested for months, they just figured this out now?....LOL....Just tell us the truth, iPhone sales sucked, and you didn't want to hurt your sales numbers by releasing the TB right on the heels of the iPhone. Google should just open up Flag ship stores in Major cities, and have all these phone companies like HTC, MOTO, LG, and Samsung all under one roof, and sell the phones unlocked. I am absolutely beginning to hate phone providers!

To be honest I was expecting more than 3 hours. Also with new processors and things like that they evolve them to use less battery. On the spec sheet this has better battery life than the evo and the Dinc. Did the Dinc have LTE or a 4.3 inch screen or a 2nd gen snapdragon?

man do they wait until last minute to test things out or what?

Its fine, my Rep didn't say anything about bad battery life. This is all new to me. Also the inspire only has a 1230 Mah battery. The bolt has a 1400 Mah battery, and I already purchased the Seidio extended 1600 Mah battery that shoult do the trick. This processor should use less power than the old snap dragon that was in the Inc so I don't think there will be to much of a problem.

The biggest problem I see with htc phones is Sense being a battery hog. I love Sense but noticed my battery last longer with CM7 and power set to performance, min cpu at 245 and max cpu at 1113.

Maybe, the issue with battery is LTE is always trying to connect when LTE is not in range and is sucking the juice out of the phone. This problem could have come up when they sent to testers in markets not live with LTE.

I had a MT4G with the identical 1400 mAh battery. Sure it has not LTE radio and the screen is 3.8 instead of 4.3 but I could make it through a day without a problem. Not all HTC phones are bad in battery life. If you look at the battery size of my Atrix with 1900 mAh it is not even bigger than the 1400mAh. So there is no reason why HTC couldn't produce high capacity batterie that could fit in the TB. HTC has horrible QC lately so I don't wonder that this problem appeared so late.

As long as the TB can get 80% of what my Incredible does battery life wise I'll be happy . On my normal use days fresh battery at 6am , about 2hrs of bluetooth music while getting ready and then going to the gym then the drive to work (yes my incredible is my main music player) about 30-60minutes of phone calls, some internet etc while at work , get home more music via BT and more texting etc... by the time I'm going to bed around 11pm I've still got 40% life left. All I ask is my phone can make it from 6am to midnight

This is a different version of sense, and is optimized for android. I got to tryout the bolt yesterday, my Verizon Rep stopped by yesterday, and it was smooth as butter. He had it for the weekend, and never mentioned anything about the battery life being bad? He did say that a new firmware update is being pushed on Monday 28th. That's the date he gave me last week.

Do you have the Seidio extended battery? My wife hardly uses her Dinc and she barely makes if from 8am to 6pm, by the time she gets home she's at 20-30%.

I just need about 12hrs to be happy. I can always just buy another battery.

I have the Inspire - somewhat similar to the T-bolt (kinda) and the battery life is great. And its battery is smaller than the t-bolt's.

I have a EVO battery 1500mah compared to 1300mah . I also don't charge my phone I swap between two EVO batteries by charging them in an external charger. I hate cords , so when one battery gets low I remove the battery and put a new one in and charge the other.

I notice I get a better charge on the battery this way also . I've killed the battery in 10hrs but I wa s really hammering it couple hrs of GPS , streaming pandora lots of camera etc. I think rooting and putting an undervolting kernel really made the difference . I've even got mine overclocked to 1.15ghz

I wish I could try this bad boy out. I can upgrade the 28th but I really like the incredible but want a bigger screen.

The Tbolt has already been rooted and I am sure the devs at XDA can come up with a rom and kernel that will improve the battery problem. They did for my Incredible.

I used the DInc for several months. Regular battery, seidio's extended battery, verizon's extended battery. All shit! Terrible battery life. It's not the battery, it's the device.

Judging HTC's history, expect the TB to on par with the rest of their devices. If you need a smartphone to get you thru the day without being tethered to a charger, forget this.

Love Sense UI. Everything else, not so much.

i know that verizon's (quasi) 4g isn't the same as at&t's (less than quasi) 4g, but it does seem that if the inspire and the evo can make do with their batteries then the thunderbolt should be able to do the same, no? plus, as others have mentioned, it does seem awfully late in the game to suddenly discover battery issues.

and as an aside... i recall the evo 4g having major complaints about battery issues on release which seemed to die down into an "it's not great but it's ok" stance. was this through firmware updates or...?

still holding on to hope that this phone is (a) not a dog (b) released soon (c) can make it through the majority of a day on a full charge and (d) comes closer to $250 than $300. way too few new-phone options on verizon right now...

Just remember the Inspire uses AT&T 4g which uses the same 3G radio and the Bolt uses LTE 4G which uses a separate LTE radio so it has to power two radios 3G and the LTE 4G radio.

It may not be the battery itself, but rather the 4g using more power than expected. The Inspire may not be dealing with this as it has a different radio. When they talk about the switching aspect, I wonder if the 3g does not turn off in 4g areas and vise-versa. That could drain a battery quick.

I love my Incredible I just need the bigger screen I love the feel of the Evo it's the perfect size . Whenever I use an Evo I get disapointed when I start using my Incredible it's so small haha . It's really like when I'm watching TV in my living room on my 52in LED then go to my bedroom and watch my 37in LCD which I remember when I first got it for my living room I thought the 37 was the perfect size .

and like what another person said this is better then the Incredible in everyway
