Whenever I start feeling bad about my Ascend not doing what I want or I get tired of Ascend whining all I have to do is wander over to the Cricket Wireless Fanpage and I feel SOOO much better!!! LMAO!!!

Have you upgraded your ZIO to new Android 2.2? Please be sure to download & install ALL 3 packages to complete successful upgrade. To check current Android version: Visit Menu>Settings>About Phone>Android V. to see if indicates 2.2.1. If not, re-start / re-initiate / complete the upgrade process. Plz allow up to 45min (*15min for final reboot, uninterrupted), via WiFi, to complete full upgrade Mycricket.com/ZIO

  • Derek Mayfield ‎@Erich that was the sales ploy. Also the Ascend does not NEED an update. 2.1 to 2.2 isn't much of a change as 1.6 to 2.2. 1.6 was really buggy and it was supposed to just got to 2.1. The Ascend is fine at 2.1. As long as your OS is over 1....6 any android OS is fine as long as you have app2sd.
    @Chris Huawei has no intention of releasing an update for the phone, sorry. They are just gonna revamp the phone with the x5 that should be dropping in August. Save up or be content. With android being on the latest OS isn't the best you could be doing. The biggest thing on 2.2 is flash support but im not even sure if the Ascend could pull it off with its specs. So in this case the best OS right now for the Ascend is 2.1. Hope this helped.

    Be sure to follow the instructions at mycricket.com/zio before u do the upgrade...... you first need to s...ync ur contacts with ur gmail!!


  • Josephine Smith i follow the exact instructions it says"SOFTWARE UPDATE CAN BE AVAILABLE IN WI-FI AREA ONLY. WHEN THE DEVICE IS IN AN OUT OF WI-FI AREA, IT CAN BE AVAILABLE BY USING KYOCERA UPDATE TOOL. KYOCERA UPDATE TOOL IS THE TOOL FOR UPDATING DEVICE WHICH CAN BE USED BY CONNECTING THE DEVICE TO PC....so im connected to the PC now


  • Anthony Burkett ‎@Derek 2.1-2.2 is a major update Derek. it would include flash AND wifi tethering, which are huge. it also included many bug fixes. would allow the use of web chat through yahoo messenger, as well as the kongregate arcade app. in my opinio...n the 2.2 update is the best one yet!

    but... sadly you're right, the chances of flash support on the ascend are very small. flash doesn't support the cpu model

  • Derek Mayfield ‎@Anthony lol yeah thats why I noted Flash. Wifi Tethering can already be accomplished under root so aside from bug fixes you should be fine. You get what you paid for. VERSUS the zio that was 250, and on super buggy 1.6, with a PROMISED update to 2.1 in the future. Going to 2.2 corects cricket's mistake on making us wait so long for an update

I was just talking from a standard user who don't know how to integrate tethering in there phone. the ascend wasn't much cheaper then 250 at nearly 200 at some cricket stores anyways. Oh well you have a point..., get what you pay for when it comes to cricket.

    @Everyone Else, go check out roming your phone for the ascend =O it gets rid of the bloatware, and you can always revert it back to how it was if you READ and follow EXACT instructions. =)

    A: We highly recommend syncing contacts with Gmail
 
lol...Yeah Jazz, its a hoot going there and reading.....I believe some of the people trying to update there Zio's, would get just as far if they would write the how to update directions down on a peace of paper, and then fold the paper up, pull there battery out, put the folded peace of paper with the directions on it under the battery....make sure you put the battery door back on the phone, or it might not work, after that, put the phone under the pillow over night....and WAM next morning you have a updated Zio, or a quarter from the phone fairy :D
 
I know!!!! LMAO!! And above all....be sure to "visit a full service corp. store for assistance"!!!! AAAACK! It's a broken cricket record! :D

To see who has the most ridiculous sales representatives and weird customers. At least I fit right in. I bet with my lackluster knowledge of phones I could work at Metro Pcs. Heck, I can even understand Engrish. I should get points for that. Too bad they pay terribly (Or at least I'd guess that they do by how unenthusiastic their workers are) LOL.

That's just...awful. But hilarious!! Reminds me of trying to get help from Comcast...

Comcast: please return your modem to the nearest Comcast customer service center for an exchange

Me: I'm tellin you, the problem ain't with my modem! Just reset my connection like I asked you to and we'll be all set

Comcast: we'll be happy to exchange your modem for you...

Me: *sigh*

LMAO!!!! I know! I went through the very same thing the other night when I had to call direcTV. OMG! By the time I got a real person on the line I was ready to throttle him!!! LOL

I can't stand the robot reps!!! :D
 
What I love is getting technical service reps that know less than I do then asking me to come work for them. When I find out how little they make I know why I know more than they do. It's sad really because I don't make anywhere near what I'm worth (I work for the State of Florida).
 
No wonder they are in no hurry to update the ascend. I almost feel sorry for the cricket reps, though. Talking to a brick wall probably sounds like a good idea after a full day of that noise. (that and a stiff drink) Hell, one page of that is enough to wear me out!
 
Its funny, they were not happy because they weren't getting the update fast enough, and now they have it and are still not happy with what they got or they goofed it up. Its like me getting a Geo and being pissed because it doesn't have 750HP, turbo charged with eject seat in it, but someone gives me the stuff ,and I am in to big of a hurry to take the time to understand the stuff and how it works, just throw it in my Geo and it blows all to crap and then blame Geo for it :D

Oh, but customer service does blow chunks when it comes to help or advice.
