Root Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

in order of priority:

battery > 49degrees 400/400
fully charged/charging 1200/400
screen off 400/400
battery <25% 850/400
battery <40% 1000/400

your max/min values will vary based on your overclock. a few posts back you'll notice myself and at least one other having issues with JRummy's profile system not working entirely like it should, but setCPU uses profiles perfectly.

Thanks! I'll give it a try with JRummy's app and report whether it works for me.

Screen and charging profiles are not working correctly in the app. Screen off and charging/full kick in OK, but they don't kick out. After screen comes on, profile is still at Screen Off. Same after unplugging charger, profile still at Charging/Full.

The battery profiles seem to work OK.

Has anyone tried importing SetCPU scripts into the app?

Im new to all this root stuff and not 100% sure what the following means...1- what is frequency scaling and how to use and when do i change..also whats the userspace, ondemand and performance mean? im not gonna mess with anything till i figure out whats up...dont need another paper weight....thx for any help

searching would answer all these questions, but:

frequency scaling is the processor automatically adjusting its speed based on demand, which is either userspace (weird, dont use it) on demand, scales up when things need it, and performance, always scaled to the top.
nothing of these will paperweight your X. the only one to watch for is Apply setting at boot. If you get a bad one it can cause a bad day.
That said, next time try reading more than the 1st post before replying..
 
This app has been messing up alot for me lately. Not sure whats up. But the OTHER OC app allows me to run at 1.45 Ghz without even a hiccup!
 
This am i had to reinstall dc pc and when i looked at the stock grew and vsels they were 300,500,800,1000 but the vsels were much lower than 'stock' and topped out at 58 on 1000. What are the true stock vsels as when i disable the module i don't get a reading.
 
When I open jRummy's DroidX Overclock and go to "advanced" and select default preset, I get:

350: 33
500: 48
800: 58
1000: 62

I run:
350: 21
650: 36
950: 51
1250: 67

Also note you can export or import your presets from this page as well. :D
 
well ive seen those. but i feel like those are higher than the actual moto Stock voltages. Obviously loading the OC module is the only way for us to read it, but i feel that those are the voltages that were set up to be "safe" rather than what youd read from a std DX if you were able to read it without the OC module loaded
 
If anyone else is having a hard time purchasing this in the market, you may have a bugged market that will not allow you to see/purchase some apps. To fix this issue, see this thread:

I fixed it by*:

Go to Rom Manager
Download Rom
Beesley's Build.Props (no wipe, no backup)
It will install, reboot, more installation, and then reboot again. Done, about 2 minutes.

If it messes up your phone, blame Jesus, not me.

You're correct in your feelings. Those are not the "true" VSEL values that our phones run at stock.

These are not "safe" settings either. The number "2" is the clue in my sig.
 
OK since I can't find it in this thread and I hope Jrummy still reads this.

what does the "userspace" governor do? What does it have to do with profiles. I downloaded the latest version of this after running lib rom for over a week.

How exactly does the phone use the other 2 speed/voltage slots between max and min? Is this where profiles for battery and temp come into play as My DX seems to only use max and min.
 
Brand new rooted DX user. Thinking about overclocking. Does this app have a pre set profile for overclocking beginners such as myself who dont know what to manually configure everything to.

I dont want to go nuts with a overclock... just a little something something that I can feel safe knowing its not gonna melt the phone.

I just have mine set to 1.15 ghz in the low voltage setting. Safe and stable with no reboots.

Yes, you can choose among numerous profiles based on O/C speed and voltages. Read the Help for a full explanation, but it's very simple: start at, say, 1.15 ghZ medium voltage. Then, if you want to experiment, work your up up in speed until your phone freezes or turtles. And if you want to improve battery life, work your way down in voltage.
 
Whats the deal with all the voltage settings if you can set the same CPU speed no matter which one you take. Why should I choose Low Voltage over Medium Voltage?

Currently running Low voltage on my DX at 1200MHz.

Is that considered aggressive? Should I get some temp monitoring apps?

my understanding is that it helps conserve battery life.

ULV was a bit unstrable for me (soft reboot once-in-a-while), so i stay with LV instead.

1.2GHZ is not too agressive, IMO. Do you have the govenor set?

To everyone asking for a pre-defined overclock, give this a shot.

Been running these for over a month now, no problems.

Also, someone asked if they should get a temp monitoring app... The Overclock app we are working with has a widget that shows cpu speed, plus temps.
