I feel like nothing is streamlined, I have a million contacts for one person, I can't edit almost any of my contacts or anything. I really want to do a factory restore on it but can't even find where that it. I know people give iPhone's a lot of crap around here, but I'm about to go running back to mine. Please help!

go to menu-settings-sd & phone storage at the bottom you can do a factory data reset..That should reset everything...Im new to android also comming from iphone, and I absolutly will never go back, just give it some time and learn the android os, it really is by far better imo...I had problems w/ multiple contacts also, just went in and unlinked them..Hopfuly some one that knows more then me can chime in and help ya out better..

ok as for a million contacts showing when you are in your contacts list and press menu then view the list that comes up is everything checked? if so then it will show the contacts multiple times if that contact happens to appear in each of those things checked.

I copied all my contacts to my phone then in my contact list hit menu view and unchecked SIM and unchecked Facebook for HTC sense. this got rid of almost 100 repeated contacts for me.

also what about your contacts are you trying to edit? if you go into your list tap a contact then menu an edit option is there.

You can also try to Join contacts depending on how many you have. If you have a lot it could take a long time but if not try that.

I never understand these type of post. So you can't figure something out and instead of asking for help or search the forum for the solution some individuals always want to state how they will go back to their iphone. Go into your people app, long press and a menu should pop up for you to edit.

Bye bye.

I refer you to the last two words of the OP's post, which you quoted.

I see what you are saying but you can ask for help by just asking.(How do I edit my contacts?) easy and simple.

Over a year ago I was attracted to Android Forums, as opposed to many many other forums with devices as the main subject matter, because the members were for the most part helpful, friendly and non-judgmental as to my posting style, lack of knowledge as to my device (the HTC Eris then) and overall "n00bness."

Nobody told me how to post, they just gave me the info I needed.

Android can do anything iOS can do, but often it's not as intuitive because of the many more customization options available in Android. If this isn't acceptable, then iOS really is probably the better option for you. There is definitely a learning curve involved when switching from iOS to Android.

+1

If you like iOS, stay with it. No hard feelings. ;)

If you like to experience more with your phone and want to have the ability to customize it just the way you want or need, Android is your only option. There is a learning curve. But then, all good things require some learning...

I think others have answered your specific question but I infer that you may be feeling overwhelmed in an unfamiliar interface. Before you bail on Android, take a deep breath and reflect back upon what made you want to leave the iPhone for Android.

Using a car analogy, you can think of iOS as an automatic transmission. The Android OS would be a manual transmission. Both transmissions will allow you to drive the car. However, there are distinct differences in the way you do so. One isn't specifically better but both offer advantages. For example, the manual transmission allows you to control the shifting of gears. This allows you to control the behavior and can result in better gas mileage or faster acceleration.

It's the same with Android, it's different than iOS but allows so many new ways to integrate and customize. On the surface, it may seem unintuitive and complex. But, it's that very ability that makes it powerful. Once you understand how things work, you are left with a world of choice. If you just want to get from A to B with little to no options, you might not really enjoy Android.

A beautiful parallel. Nicely said.

OK, so I figured out how to edit my contacts and do a few other things. I'm getting more comfortable with it. There are still a few things that I miss about my iPhone or maybe I just haven't figured it out on the Android yet. How can I let it notify me of stuff? For instance. When a friend makes a move with Words with Friends it doesn't let me know, or someone comments on my facebook or twitter nothing happens with this phone.

For Words with Friends, you just need to enable it in the Account Settings. Under Misc, there is an option for Background Notifications. When it's your turn, you will get a notification in the notification bar of your phone.

As for Facebook and Twitter, I don't use Twitter so I can help there. But, Facebook doesn't seem to work. I get notified about things in email. I think it's an issue with Facebook though and not the phone or Android.

I sometimes get notified of messages from the fb app. But i also installed flow for fb which gave me pop yo notifications but since a recent update to that app it is touch and go with getting the pop up now

Well said. Choice is a good thing!

If you wanted to to use a video game analogy (I work in the industry so why not lol), I see iOS as a very linear game that to a point holds the users hand and guides them the way the game was designed to be played. Android is more of a open world game, you're free to explore and play the game using the mechanics that the developers put in at your own leisure, you create your own experience. Both have limitations that the developers set in place as well as hardware limitations, but one give the user more control over their experience than the other.

After using all iPhones the switch to Android wasn't too bad for me. I found a lot of my favorite apps are on Android, and some of them are actually better than the iOS counterparts. I at times miss the simplicity of iOS, but at the same time appreciate the vast user experience that Android has to offer. I feel iOS is still more refined than Android for now, the Sense interface if anything is the most refined I have ever seen a Android device, its almost iOS like in my opinion.

I wouldn't switch back no matter what comes out from the Apple camp, I am too used to having more control over my device and making it work how it works best for me, not how the developer thinks I should use it. I think I've stated in a few places here that my only big gripe is with the lack of a native Japanese IME, hopefully Google will release the next release with "Japanese" as an option in the keyboard/International settings. The 3rd party IME keyboards are horrible (unusable) compared to the native IME the iPhone has.

It's getting better. There are still a few gripes I have. I think it's just because I am so used to it. I have so many games that I have downloaded on my iphone that I do not have on here. And the fact that I don't own a PC and Android won't sync with Mac kinda sucks. I'm gonna give it the whole week before I make my decision. The phone itself however is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than my iPhone.

What do you need your android phone to sync with your MAC for? I have a mac I have never synched my phone. It sync in the cloud. Adding music etc works with the MAC so what do you mean it won't sync with mac
