Wow. This Steve Jobs/Apple stuff got old real quick. It's like any of the new SNL skits. The joke didn't work the first time so we'll make a 10 minute skit around it so it keeps not being funny.

Apple isn't controlling or dictating when the TB is going to be released. This is all on VZW and quite frankly, they're making choices that the larger consumer base will embrace. This is especially true if the TB had functional/quality issues. I'm no Apple fanboy - we have two Apple products in my house (3rd Gen iPod and 2nd Gen iPod Nano) and I sincerely doubt that I'll buy any more - but Apple products do seem to create an evangelical kind of following from their users.

We're a small fanatical segment of their market and we'd like to be catered to, but the smart play for VZW is to focus on products with mass market appeal.

So can we please knock off all this nonsense that Apple is approving every step that VZW is taking right now? And can we do it quickly before someone calls Jimmy Fallon and asks him to make a skit about it?

Well, if things go according to the predictability of Verizon, we should have a press release tomorrow. Of course this all speculation and Ouija board responses. If we are to see the bolt on the 17th, then we should hear about that date and when presales will start for Verizon. I find it hard to believe they would only do a couple of day notice for this phone. If anything, Verizon will need the ten days to really turn all the negative forums posts and news into a positive spin.

Why do you say that? VZW wouldnt have a PR for the iPad. I dont think that it has anything to do with the thunderbolt release and here is why.

1.Its not a phone
2.Its not a VZW exclusive (Xoom)
3.You can buy it wifi only (no need for a wireless provider)

Thats just my opinion how ever

Normally I would agree but Jobs himself walked this puppy out. He isn't going to let anyone else have any type of release on top of his. Apple just doesn't allow that to happen. Besides, it is already the main splash on the web site. Ipad 2 is outed.

Well folks, I never got a reply back from my Director about Malones comments concerning a later release today. You can take that as good news or bad news for now, but either way, I will make it my mission to find out what the heck is happening with this device and its launch, tomorrow.

Never said the release date was changed, but whatever it was going to be, it's obviously been changed. You have multiple outlets, including verizon themselves promoting a product to sell. Why? Because it was being release soon. Then they pull the ads. Why? Because it was pushed back.

IMO, Verizon had to have a projected release date (I thought it was Q1, and I know that Q1 ends in March, and I know it's still March). Through channels/sources on these forums, we, the fanatic's have found out information that the mass general public doesn't know (mainly because they probably don't care as much). I find it hard to believe BB went out on a limb and blindly gambled by taking pre-orders for the TB. I believe they got permission to do this, but that's just my opinion.

This info is 'projected' release dates from inside sources. Some are more reliable than others. But, just because a date hasn't been released to the general public in an official announcement, doesn't make it impossible for Vzw to miss their own "mark". They're not going to officially announce something if the product isn't ready only to hope that they can get the product ready for the date they gave.

Just like any project... you forecast when you're going to be completed by. Stuff happens, things break, and delays occur... thus the original completion date is pushed back. You can't say the completion was never delayed because it was never given as public knowledge. The project team has a goal to reach, a date to meet, to complete the project, whether it's public knowledge or not.

IMO bottom line... we wouldn't be nearly as frustrated or anxious if we didn't know what we know. In other words if we weren't on these boards, reading speculations, etc. we'd have nothing to be frustrated about because we probably wouldn't know what the Thunderbolt even was, aside from the two commercials Vzw has run. We're victims of our own motivation and knowledge.
