N64oid=JUNK

I know that friends of the dev are pushing this app pretty hard and will probably criticize this post, but this is AMERICA dammit. This app DOES NOT work well for ANY android phone and the dev is collecting an astounding $6 a pop for an emulator that only plays MARIO...same crap as ZOD's psx4droid...worthless and no useful updates...

Mario 64, Starfox, Banjo Kazooie, and Mario Kart all work great on my Incredible. Those four games alone working on my phone are more than worth the price. Plus, the application just came out. It is already getting updated frequently, and if it is anything like the developer's other emulators, I am sure it will turn out just fine.

Screaming "It doesn't work well on ANY Android phone!" is a lie unless you have every phone. Works well on my phone by my standards, so you are wrong. Take a chill-pill and be patient--the emulator will get better and it is already awesome!

Check out the wording, "does not work well". I guess you love wasting your money on apps that only half work, but you're a prime example of one of those people that are afraid to stand up to greedy devs. Four games for $6 is not bad perhaps...but is this an EMULATOR or a ROM pack? Wait...the four games that work don't actually come with the emulator and you have to kind of play hit or miss for all your ROMs. The fact that it just came out is no excuse and the dev is still charging a lot of money for something that does not work.

the fact that mario 64 alone works almost flawlessly is worth the price of the emulator. it has been updated a bit and you should be thankful that we finally have an n64 emulator instead of trashing it, and no, not every game will work flawlessly but if i can play at least 3 of my favorite games from the old days on my phone, which 5 years ago i thought was madness, then i consider it a success. if some games dont work for you, take the chance to try other games you never played, see how they work. there's a lot of hidden gems out there.

So by your logic, since it is only an emulator, if every N64 game worked flawlessly, then it is still a waste of money because it isn't a ROM pack? I am glad he released it quickly--I would rather have a pretty good emulator now than it being released later when it is near perfect.

You are a prime example of people who do not research applications before they buy. No need to bash those of us who enjoy and appreciate all the hard work that went into the emulator. $6 is not greedy at all, and over 10,000 people already agree with me.

Boom. I know I don't have the luxury to talk about money since I struggle for money and have tens of thousands in debt in student loans waiting to slap me in the face once I graduate. But $6 is not a lot, even to a poor college student that lives off the dollar menu. Also Mario 64 originally cost $50 by itself, plus tax. So your argument that $6 is a lot for one game of that quality is flawed.

Many games work just fine on my phone. Actually a majority of the games I tried work just fine, yes it lags once in a while but almost all of them are more than just playable, many run excellent and I have a blast playing them.

...worthless and no useful updates...

Yeah cause fixing specific game issues to making Mario run near perfect, fix Star Fox, and a number of other games was totally worthless.

Also, there's already a thread about the app. You don't need another just to rant about how you want absolute perfection out of an app and how $6 costs too much. If you're complaining about $6, I'd be surprised how much you'd complain if it were free and they were unable to pay their dev team to work on it as hard as they have.

Refund it and don't play it if you don't like it.

Wow! I'm convinced...you must be friends with a rival dev or Yonghz killed your dog or did something really mean to you.

Super Smash Brothers runs great. Zelda runs okay (good enough for a mobile phone). Mario 64 runs well but it's almost possible to do the Z+jump combo while running... which is pretty important. Might be able to pull it off with a game-gripper but I haven't tried remapping the controls yet.

The emulator could use some work, but so far I'm pretty impressed with it. Also, $6 for me is pretty much nothing so I'm not too worried about it.

I haven't heard now the n64 emu runs on the iPhone 4. I'm using a Samsung Epic, btw.

Lol history will repeat itself. FPse defeated PSX4Droid by far, lets see who defeats N64oid. I'm curious.

Just like something better than gensoid and snesoid and all the other ones made by yongzh right?

n64oid works great on my Droid X. Runs plenty of games perfectly. It gets patched almost daily it seems.

FYI, i have now tried 20+ games on my g-tab and they all run great. i guess having the Tegra2 IS good for something, despite all the "android devices can't utilize dual core processors" discussion.

This is the internet bro... not america.. just saying...

by the way... i have mario, mario kart, zelda and other roms working just fine.. what device do you have? perhaps yours is not supported

depending on your phone (or until he implements rotation for all versions of android (not just 2.3)), my Volume rocker is on the left side of my phone. So I binded vol up to be Z and vol down to be R. Works well in mario 64 and zelda for strafing

you can also pair wii-motes (depending on compatibility) and try it that way also

I have an Atrix and it plays everything well (if it boots) - mario 64, mario kart, goldeneye, quest 64, zelda 64, zelda MM, killer instinct gold, etc

I think calling it junk is going to far. That's just like your mom giving birth to you and after a few months, she call you junk because you spoke well for your age, but had trouble walking.

If $6 dollars a lot for you, then don't own a car with these gas prices.

Big difference here, Yonghz has been tweaking and updating his emus for android long after inital release. He tried to partner with Zod for PSX4Droid and Zod is an iphone dev who looked to dev for android as an additional source of income. Zod is willing to cheat the paying customer for a quick buck. Yonghz will update the N64 emu many times in the next few months to bring compatability to play more and more games just as he has done with his other emus. I remember when I purchased his GBA emu I could not play all of golden sun, kingdom hearts, M&L super star saga, and more, now they run great and I did not have to pay for a new emu.

The OP did not document what phone he/she is using, more than likely if they are using an older phone it may not have the resources to run the emu.

I'll rephrase it; there will be competition.

Lol something funny to note here guys:
N64 specs:
CPU 93.75 MHz NEC VR4300
GPU 62.5 MHz SGI RCP
Memory 4MB, 8MB with expansion

You would think that 1Ghz would easily overdo this? Yes I know it's completely different code and such, but still.

The flaw in that thinking is that specs for a video game system does not equate to what is needed to run an emulator. Chipsets act differently in various settings. Look up project64 or 1964 both require cpus running much faster than the N64 hardware. When emulating a video game console you are not telling your hardware to run the rom however you are using your hardware to recreate the console hardware and then using the virtual console to run the rom. The phone hardware is not set up to run an emulator, rather it is set up to run a phone, the CPU speed must be much higher than the OEM console to run the emulator properly. In general your cpu must be 1Ghz+ to smoothly run a N64 emulator many of the android phones in use currently will not be able to run this.

Edit: Yes there will be competition however looking at yonghz's other emulators this work is not complete on this and thinking that the initial product is a final product is not a valid way of thinking, he is a commited dev and works off feedback given to him to help his product grow

This post is SO lame...first I am not even sure he ever said what phone he has....in any case with my Galaxy S at 1.4Ghz this is looking pretty good so far with many games running fine and full speed.
Not on par with FPSE but I am sure it will get better and better since this dev is not like others (cough psx4droid).
So $6 bucks that you spend any stupid thing without thinking and here you got someone crying....if $6 bucks are so hard to get for you for a program , that even if it was only for playing mario, would be worth it, then perhaps you need to rethink you career choices mate.

This appears to be another attempt to scam people's money like zod got away with. Only a couple roms actually work, and where are these constant updates the developer promised? Not trying to be a negative nancy here, but a lot of people are getting pretty mad in the marketplace.

Yeah so far it is a total fail.

Hasn't delivered on 99% of what the developer has promised.

Only a few ROMs work.

I'm glad that I didn't buy it. I usually read lots and lots of user reviews on the market and on the web before I use my money to go buy an app that can potentially be a "fail" or "spyware".

Not trying to scare anyone, but just be more careful and not get screwed over by some of these developers, the bottom line is they're just trying to get in your wallet.

What is a fail to me is that I can't even install the dang thing, due to my Ally being "not powerful enough." Not that this is his fault by any means, however I've got PSX games running at full smooth speed on my Ally via FPse (well worth the money, I may add). N64 couldn't be TOO far off, should it?

Bottom line - the emulation isn't quite "there" yet. It'll get there, but it'll just take some time for either him or someone else to get it right.

Don't judge until you've tried it on every possible Android phone/handheld. Many games play near perfect (by that I mean there's only the slight slowdown very rarely), and some games are playable but still slow.

This runs very well for a Beta that was just recently released.

Games fully playable for me with sound:
-Super Mario 64
-Banjo Kazooie
-Star Fox 64
-Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (just a tad slow during cutscenes)
-Super Smash Bros.

Games playable but slightly slow with sound:
-Goldeneye 007
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask
-007: The World Is Not Enough

Games that crash instantly or after running for a minute or so:
-Perfect Dark (crashes after trying to enter Carrington Institute or starting a mission)
-Banjo Tooie (crashes after the main intro)
-Conker's Bad Fur Day (doesn't load)

These were all of the games I tried.

P.S.: I'm running this on my Galaxy Tab.
