Root Im probably searching for the wrong thing

Hey everyone im sorry if this is a repost but I cant find the answer...I want to upgrade from froyo to gingerbread with out loosing root. I rooted with unrevoked
 
First off, welcome to the forums!

If you are just wiping and flashing a GB rom, you should be good to go. Use Caulkin's Format All zip, then flash the rom of your choice and reboot. Make sure you make a nandroid backup first though so as to have a good setup to go back to if you have problems.
 
the only gingerbread roms that are out there are aosp roms (non-htc sense roms). you can head on over to xda EVO 4G Android Development - xda-developers to find which gb roms that you want. i think cm7 is also a gb rom as well. main thing is do some research and read all the information about the rom as you can. some of these kind of roms can have bugs in them so make sure that you look and see what works and what does not work. also keep in mind that aosp roms for the most part do not have 4g, and hdmi working.
 
Thanks for the info guys I hardly use hdmi out and sprint doesnt have 4g in metro detroit yet(if they even bring it here) so i think i should be good on that
 
Only place in Michigan that has 4g that I know of right now is Grand Rapids.....can't wait til they move East with it. :)
