Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Can someone please help me?

I've followed the directions in "Instructions to install ROM with Fastboot"
all the way up to step 6, but when I click "Launch software update" it" after about a minute the program says "PHONE NOT FOUND."

I'm using Windows XP and I downloaded the drivers, but unfortunately it does not work. (I tried twice). However, in "Safely Remove Hardware" I can see that its connected cause it says "LGE Android Platform USB Device."

Did you download as use the XP specific drivers that are mentioned in the instructions?

These ones.

Thanks for the reply Praccy

I did download them, thats why I was confused.
However, when I right click on the file to "install" the drivers, nothing popped up. I just assumed that it installed it really fast, automatically.

I also have a laptops with Vista and Windows 7, should I try it there?
 
yeah, i installed this a few days ago. loving it! i got SwiftDroid 1.5v. Radio works and Everything!
the only thing i have an issue with is the battery power... it dies quicker than i thought. so i hope the next version solves this... i got 1 solution, set up how many apps can run at a time. i got 3 atm. but in any other way, i love it <3

I have a W7 64bit PC, I installed the drivers and have flashed 4 phones to date with no problems, personally i would avoid the vista laptop and go for the W7 one.

Yeah I have Windows 7 64-bit laptop too, I think Windows 7 has the compatibility for it, go for the Windows 7 PC :)

Yeah battery power on the phone sucks, I charge my phone every night anyway, so it doesn't really affect me. How do you set up how many apps can run at the same time?
 
is 3G, or any sort of mobile data working for anyone?, 'cause i can't use it, even when it detects the available networks, it always tells there's an error when trying to connect to

regarding the battery life, mine lasted about 9 hours, i had the max cpu speed set at 600mhz and the min at 245mhz, which i think are the defaults, it actually endure heavy usage trough out the day,web surfing, taking pics, video, some gaming, listening to music, using the wifi antenna, and the gps

Same here, have been running this rom for 2 days and the battery life is poor, I was running the cm6 2.2 rom and would usually have 50 % of the battery left at the end of the working day, but using this rom the battery is hitting 50% just after lunch with identical usage. I have a feeling though that its something like the wifi not turning itself off/sleeping when the screen is off.
Plus i dont like the fact i cannt set up profiles for the cpu overclocking i may try and use setcpu to see if it makes any difference to battery life.

I was able to do everything except this section:

"5. Open the Root Explorer app. Choose sdcard and find the camerabuttonfix1.5.zip file on the SD Card, open it and tap and hold to extract the msm_touchscreen.kl and qwerty.kl files. Go to sdcard/extracted and tap menu and choose Multiselect and select the two files. Press menu and select 'Copy'. Now go back so that the gray bar the the top of Root Explorer reads '/' now navigate to /system/usr/keylayout and paste the files into that folder. Now change the permissions (tap and hold>Permissions) to look like this for BOTH files:

User R W
Group R
Others R"

When I tried to paste the two files, it says
"You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only."

Have I done something terribly wrong? lol. I have to go out, so is it safe for me to just use the phone as it is right now?

In Root Explorer, there's a button in the top right corner saying 'Mount R/W' tap that, then paste it in again :D :)

on root explorer on the very top of the screen there's a mount/rw button, touch it it will change to mount/ro now, you can paste the files and change the permissions for them

it's safe to use but using the camera shutter to take pics, won't work, you'll have to use the on screen shutter
 
Two questions,

1. doubleTwist the music player I use allot has just stopped working after I made this update. It doesn't show music that's stored on my phone but the official music player works fine. I tried resetting my library tons of times. The music shows up for around five seconds but then disappears. I cant play it in those five seconds by the way. It gives me an error "file doesn't exist anymore". PLEASE HELP! D:! I payed for airsync and I'd love to not have to get a refund...

2. Does anyone know when the new update to this version comes out how to update the mod without re-flashing that would be awesome, and from my last post I checked in the first post how to upgrade and it's not mentioned.

If anyone has any information please and thank you could you reply!

1. DoubleTwist seems to be doing the exact same thing for me as well.. Not sure if there's a fix for it or if it'll be fixed in a future update.. Try Googling something and see if anything comes up?

2. There isn't a way to upgrade without re-flashing, that's the method of doing it; d'you have problems doing it this way?

that's true the acceloremeter is off, in the thread it says we can use the system files from previous versions of the rom, my question is, how do i get the files without reflashing the phone to get them
