Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Just installed 2.3 and it works great. Thanks dudeman and everyone else for the help! A couple of questions:

- I was not able to copy the msm_touchscreen.kl and qwerty.kl files to /system/usr/keylayout (step 5 in the readme). An error message said that system folders are read only. When I tried to change access to read/write, I was denied permission. So the files are still in extracted. Are these two files critical? What exactly do they do?

- I kind of liked some of the apps and utilities LG supplied with the 2.1 update, as well as the home screen. Is it possible to get them back? Is it possible to reinstall parts of the LG shell and keep the 2.3 upgrade? If not, is there another home screen that you would recommend?

on root explorer at the top there's a mount/rw button, touch it and then copy the files, they are a fix to make the camera shutter work.

hmm..i don't really know, but you can search for the LG apk files, there's ADW, Launcher Pro, Homsecreen...something..search on the market for launchers

Ah I see, yeah it's good to have some games handy on long trips. I had a 26 hour straight car drive when I went on holiday last year.. Shame I didn't have my Android phone then :p

everything so far works perfectly, but the battery drains crazily fast... when it when to 10%, plugging the charger will set it right away to 45%... weird... but so far satisfy with the stability...

well its easy.
go to menu>Dev Tools>Development Settings>then 1 of the options says No App Process Limit then just choose. the max is 4, but i set it on 3

Yeah I guess so, but there are still some bugs and features missing, like xvid/divx codecs missing, bluetooth headsets etc. and yeah the battery life is pretty terrbile :\

Nice! Thanks for that :) But if you're like me and have many processes running in the backgroun that you need (Lookout, 3G watchdog, Tasker, NoLED, Smart Keyboard, PingChat, etc.) then this isn't for you.. But thanks anyway :D
 
If I reset my phone (volumeUp+home+camera) what will happen ?
Will it revert to 1.6 ???

Problem is that after installing 2.3 my touch does not work for about 1/2 cm on the right side.

that key combination put your phone into download mode, i think, or it makes a hard reset, it's one of those. no it will no revert to 1.6

what you're experiencing is probably a calibration issue try reflahsing the phone.

It won't revert back to 1.6 if you do a hard reset. That key combination doesn't even work in CM7 anymore. The calibration is off for everyone, you just need to adapt to it..

dude, do you think that the developers could ever fix the xvid/divx codecs? and all of the other bugs??

it's not really that the can or can't, remember that it's a single developer Mur4ik, and all of this is done in what''s probably his free time, truth is we can't expect to get it fixed, or done. maybe he feels like doing it or not, it's really up to him.

maybe he fixes something in a future update an break something else.

what we can do, is provide news related to it, i for one wish.. a better kernel with better 3D support :P

Yes, I know it's calibration issue.

I find that it might be done with "Touch calibration" app. Just make /data/nv directory.
I did that and after calibration it made file ts_cal in this directory.
This is text fiel and in it is "5687, 16,65617,1,65536".

But screen is still not working as it should.
Maybe it is hardware issue :eek:
