And Moto for not standing by their products...
finally.. ! It won't be worth it until AT&T makes a statement !Sounds like people are noticing now, so seems like your work paid off!![]()
Thanks for advice Robby. The petition was good enough to be mentioned on Cnet and I don't even feel like explaining anything because you'd rather keep paying AT&T becasue the contract say so....have a good dayWell, here's my two cents on the matter.
1st - They are calling it 4G, because, sadly, it is under the REVISED guidelines. NONE of the carriers have anything close to what 4G was supposed to be. Not the HSPDA++ that T-Mobile and AT&T (HSUPA flavor) have, or the LTE Verizon is rolling out and AT&T will to, or the WiMax Sprint has out. TRUE 4G was supposed to provide a)100Mb connections to clients in motion (Handing off from tower to tower), b)1000MB to stationary clients, c)Full IP6 implementation.
The carriers petitioned the consortium that made up those guidelines so that what we would call 3.5G (HSPDA++, HSUPA, LTE and WiMax) would become 4G and the old guidelines would become 5G.
2nd - Petition all you want. Then read your AT&T contract where it states there are NO GUARANTEED SPEEDS (up or down) and that they reserve the right to modify available speeds based on network topography, demands and infrastructure. This is what people in New York went through on the 3G problems on AT&T after the iPhones came out. Not only that, but the "Ad's" People want to claim are "Falsely advertising" the phones speed have a nice little legal disclaimer that says (Paraphrased) "Speeds vary from location to location and by device. No speed is guaranteed."
Sign all the petitions you want. But, if you want to make a difference, MONEY talks. The only way to get AT&T's attention is to let your money talk to another carrier.
Lastly, the Revolution in Egypt was not STARTED on Twitter, or on any social network. They were started by people talking in homes, and coffee shops... and wanting more. The social networks (like twitter) were used to ORGANIZE physical protests... where to meet, when, what signs to bring.... Not to START the revolution. Just to help organize it.
Saying the Revolution in Egypt was STARTED on Twitter is like saying the American Revolution was started by lamps in a church tower.
As for the petition, I'm not going to bother with it. I'll get my Atrix by FedEx tomorrow. And, when I want to download/upload files big enough that that kind of speed matters, I'll do it on WiFi so as to not run up my data plan usage. Not to mention it's faster than even 4G.

"Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try."
The antenna problem for the iPhone and the HSUPA issue are 2 different issues. The first one will require Apple to take back their phones and reconstruct them (the phone works fine btw) , the second one only requires AT&T to send some kind of OTA update to their phones.
Let's move on now because this isn't going nowhere...."Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try."
"Do, or do not... There is no TRY!" - Master Yoda
Actions speak louder than words. And, those actions speak even louder with money behind them.
You can choose to TRY to do something by throwing words at the problem.
Or, you can DO something about it by taking your money away from them.
That's my point.
Also, I never said the iPhone 4 and the Atrix were the same issue.
I was comparing the METHOD of trying to get something done about a problem.
Got it ~~~ lolNow listen here kids, I will turn this discussion board right around and take us all home if you two don't settle down. No one wants that do they? I know I don't want that.
Now lets all try to be friends and play nice, we are all on the same side here....all one big happy android family right?

Zizo Im sure the consumerist would post a story if the submission was well written. Anyone here good at drafting formal letters of complaint?
Well, here's my two cents on the matter.

the only thing your not relising is that sadly the 100mb's would be spread out threw any phone using the data on that tower
