i am using autorun manager to keep apps that i dont use from running and i was wondering which other apps are out there. any thoughts? im looking for something to keep all my apps that run all the time that i dont use to stop them.

you dont need an app killer with android. at the most you should use watchdog. this alerts you to an app that is running in the background.

anything you see "running" in those task killers are actually frozen and are not using any memory until they are opened up. if you kill them, they are just going to open back up again using up your battery.

android RAM is not the same as windows RAM. the fuller the RAM is in android, the faster the phone will be since it just un-freezes the app and you are off....if you kill it, it takes longer to open the app up since it is coming from a non-in-memory state.

If you root you can yer autokiller and set your own parameters. I guess I don't have the luck of all these guys because 2.2 doesn't do it for me, at 90 mb my phone slows, at 70 it get almost unusable and at 50 it freezes. I set my parameters to 90 mb using autokiller (or a Rom toolbox) and no more problems.

Actually they are using memory, they aren't using CPU.
You can go to a terminal emulator and run top and you will see the processes running and how much cpu and memory they are using. You will see they are using memory, but no CPU.

something is wrong with your phone then. I am rarely above 70mb and the phone is smokin' fast. you may want to ditch your overclock as this may be the problem. or even try another ROM. i had somewhat similar issues with liberty, now an Apex and no overclock and it is great.

right you are. my bad.

they are using up RAM space but are not active so the CPU isn't working.

I use advanced task killer set to off and not auto kill anything or even to start, then put the widget on a screen with whatever I want it to ignore to ignore. Then hit the widget when I want.

I no longer have problems but I did before I rooted (one of two reasons I rooted) once I used autokiller I no longer had problems. I ran ApeX for a long time and also had to use autokiller with that, I haven't used autokiller since I started using liberty and I can't go back to ApeX because liberty is just so much faster, but I do miss the blur dialer.
