NOTE: This was written for Froyo. Gingerbread is different. I have stuck with Froyo, so I do not know how you do this with Gingerbread.

If you delete your text messages, believe it or not they are STILL on your phone. :D No problem. Do this:

-CONTACTS
-swipe screen to the right(left screen)
-Menu button
-CLEAR
-you sure you want to delete these?..... clear :)

You are welcome!

I've posted this a couple of times but this seems to get buried a few pages deep so I will post it again.

I saw your original post on this a while back and I use this method once a week.

yep, nice feature. I, too, used it several weeks ago when I first saw the tip. have since rooted and rom'd and lost the feature.

I only bring it up (again) because there was interest in this in the general X forum AND there are new X owners every day that need the help.
Just because it was "discovered" months ago, doesn't mean it isn't new to someone.

Dude, chill. He simply stated he read it somewhere, which to me is interesting some hidden features are being published.

I just didn't think the "months ago" was a good way to put it. I took that as "you just now figuring this out?".
My bad if that is not how it was meant.

just did this on my X and while the call history went away, when I go to txt messaging all the txts are still there.....

I'm glad you posted it aqain; but I don't understand the directions. And that is a problem with 'ME'! What screen do I swipe?

Open your app drawer and select contacts. Then using your finger, drag (i.e. swipe) to the right, hit menu button and then select clear.

What is the screen that is all the way over to the right? I see it has facebook statuses - is there a way to clear that? Is it slowing my phone down at all?
Thanks for the tip!

holy crap that wasn't just text messages, there was corporate email in there too. Had I lost my phone and someone found it they could have read all kinds of sensitive things - things that I might have been liable for under hipaa regulations. scary chit man.

HIPPAA violations:
I live in the same world. Only in the U.S. can YOU be negligent for someone STEALING from you.
Put the thieves away for good and the problem will go away. This is about the only thing I agree on with the Muslim world. Start cutting hands off and people will think twice...
I am sick and tired of thieves having rights more rights than victims in this country.
