Help About to return

can't realistically expect to have a good feel for battery life after 1 day. for those having battery life concerns after one day, have you even looked at the battery use meter to see what is using the battery?

my battery life expectations are already set by my experience with my incredible. once i get the slim extended battery for the TB i expect battery life to be about 12hrs off the plug with around 20% battery remaining.

so far my battery life today has been on par with what my incredible would be and that's on the TB's stock battery.

Idk but my thunderbolts battery life is awesome. Never charged it yet and its half gone after a full day

Smartphones pretty much suck and if you are a hardcore user then you need power sources everywhere for any phone. She even needs recharging in the middle of the day when she uses it a lot. I just think of it as a mini laptop in my pocket. Again, monoprice is your friend.
Android phones have lots of advantages, but I must say one advantage the iPhone has is decent battery life. Apple goes through great pains to maximize it and puts in a decent size battery relative to the needs of the phone, unlike HTC.

Question. Does the TB use the same charger connection as the MotoDroid 1, or does it use the same one as the Eris/RAZR/BB

It is the same as the OG Droid, it is a micro USB. I'm using the same cables that I did with my OG Droid to be able to charge at work if I need to. :)

As for battery life, I haven't noticed it being bad. I did get the extended battery and actually LIKE the humpback with this phone, don't know why it just feels better in my hand. I know the extended isn't for everyone but I haven't seen an abnormal battery drain on this.

Very true, unfortunately, but I didn't want to even mention Apple in this thread since I think a lot of us wouldn't even use an iPhone even if we were given one for free.

I have a co-worker that sits right next to me with an iPhone 4 and we constantly battle each other for supremacy. One area I have to concede is that his battery life eats mine for breakfast. Sometimes I don't understand why HTC (or any Android phone really) can't make a phone with comparable build quality as Apple. They both cost roughly the same!

EDIT: On second thought, maybe Apple has better battery life because their OS layout is an ancient slab of program shortcuts with little number indicators showing you that something changed. Maybe if we removed most of the great functionality of the Android OS, removed the ability to pull down the notification bar, and stripped it down to a bunch of shortcut icons then maybe we would get better battery life too. Just had to throw this in :)

I haven't been able to find a picture of the T-Bolt with the extended battery installed...any chance you could post one?

I'm just curious as to how it looks...but it may help people here as well see if it's something they could live with ;)

Yea I will post one up tonight when I get home, if I can pry my old OG Droid away from the wifey that is :P , I will post it in this thread :)

BTW the other thing I like about having the "hump back" from the battery is that it doesn't sit flat on my desk when I lay it down, don't know why but I hate laying phones down, I'm always scared I'll scratch the camera lol...

good eye, forgot the word "almost". edited OP

i feel as if HTC jumped the gun and i did too. duel core seems to be a good way to take some of this load off... too bad we don't know yet!?!?

i'm most likely going to use my full 14 days but ughhh, i really dislike charging mid-day!

Did you not read anything about this phone before you bought it? I mean come on battery life and HTC dont go together and everyone knew that(except for you obviously) LTE is going to drain battery like no other until they can figure out how to make it more battery efficient

are you kidding? tell me youre kidding! NO, i had read NOTHING about this phone and bought it on a whim. so i guess i learnt my lesson.

i did not know that it WOULD BE THIS BAD. LTE is amazing and so is the TBolt itself, but at this rate it is unusable for me.

Correct. It takes a couple of weeks before you know the limits and fixes for a battery.

Catch is 14 days to return it. Not enough time to confirm if things will be clear by then. Gamble time for most.

I am using the fine folks in the threads to see what happens and THEN I will get a TB :)

All is good :) Once the luv dust for a new product settles, there will be a clearer peg of the pros and cons of the TB from early buyers.

Seems a no brainer that there needs to be a VZW supported 3G/4G toggle widget released- ASAP, since most will not root.

Hey Bramsy, have you used wifi with this device yet? Does your battery drain slower when on wifi than it does with 4G (like...significantly)?

hmm did cross my mind..... wasnt wanting to use WiFi with LTE enabled...... love me some LTE! but i'll consider.... i can almost guarantee that this would help!

There are a few pictures of the phone w/the extended battery on this website. I've had the 3500 extended battery for my eris for a while, and while it certainly adds heft and thickness, the extra battery life for me is well worth it.

When they're available i'm getting the dock and a second battery. You can charge both on the dock and once and then swap when you need to. Also if you buy two accessories you can get 20% off each that way.

Bump charge it and Turn the display auto off to 30 or 15 seconds. It's on 1 minute standard.

I think everybody is missinf the main problem here you shouldn't have to'do anything ridiculous to get a days of bateery... you shoulsnt have to buy an extended battery, you shouldn't have to try a way to make the os understand what the battery has left in its juice it should just work... it should work without having to think about battery isues and that is htc 's. Fault. I'm sorry but now a days i just want my android phone to work a whole day without thinking'of bringing a charger where ever I have to go its a pain and battery life in this day should be way better than it is now. Buy an extended battery get out of here I spem 300 bucks'on this thing now you want me to buy a battery so i can use it all day? Com on man

How bad is your battery draining?? Mine seems like its on steady pace now. It's close to 2:00 PM here and I'm at 58%. LTE has been fine, Im not sure if it would drain much less on 3G. I'm thinking by 3, I'll be at the half way point and that would be 7 hours of usage.

Now I'm just using the internet, some apps (words with friends), facebook and SMS messages. Only 2 calls today.

i tend to agree... its this mindlessness that has pushed i*hone to where it is with some degree. just sayin

Then return it. Maybe they'll come out with a software update in the future to help things. Maybe rooting will help things. But if you're not happy with it stock out the box then don't keep it. I mean I totally understand your frustration but complaining on here isn't going to fix the issue at all. That's just my point of view: if you're not happy you always have options, so use one.

The other thing is I think we all use them heavy on the front end. They're new, fun, and awesome. That's how it was for my droid, but when it became just a phone again 6 months later it was no problem.
