i just ordered mine,and im anxious to see the root info too. but they said this in the first post:

Didn't mean to seem impatient; I don't even have the phone yet
I just remember how easy it was to root my inc with unrevoked
I don't expect them to have anything like that ready anytime soon
And honestly I can live without a rooted phone for a while

I dont understand why people buy phones with SENSE UI on them and then turn around put a non sense rom on the phone. Why no go with non sense phone from the beginning?

Because there aren't very many phones that are plain Android. HTC puts Sense on their's, Moto puts on Blur, and Samsung puts on whatever crap they put on. If you want to use a true Android experience then your limited to like 2 or 3 phones and at least two of those are over a year old already. (Droid 1 and N1)
So people buy the hardware they want and then root and rom so that they can run the software they want.

i like the hardware. htc makes good quality phones,and most of the decent motorola phones have encrypted bootloaders. its silly to buy a phone based on the software if youre just going to change it
i do run sense roms occasionally. usually just for a day or 2 to remind myself how much i really prefer plain vanilla android

My first Verizon phone was supposed to be the Nexus One. Never happened. Google said, that phone you wanted from us on Verizon, get an Incredible instead. It is close enough. Nexus S, not a chance. Verizon seems to be blocking any vanilla dev phone on their network. HTC is the next best thing.
The reason I would by an HTC phone on Verizon is that I know the devs have rooted and nand unlocked the phone historically. I will not buy moto for their anti-dev/consumer stances. I am sitting on the sidelines, continuing to love my inc, waiting to see what the devs can accomplish with Thunderbolt.

Technically koush gave us a recovery, we just can't write it yet. We have r/w to system only, not to recovery at this point.

I still havnt seen the big deal about plain android. Really didnt like it too much. My first sense phone is the thunderbolt and I love it. Much better than any thing else iv seen.

That didn’t take long. A collaborative effort between numerous Android hackers just managed to crack the Thunderbolt’s bootloader wide open, successfully booting a custom recovery image. They also incidentally discovered a new root method in the process. Credit goes to jcase, jamezelle, and scotty2 (and all of andirc) for working out the details, and ProTekk and Trident for putting their shiny new Thunderbolts on the line. Here’s the visual proof:

i hate to be a a stick in the mud,but those pics look basically the same as the ones in the first post of the other thread,so is the recovery functional or is someone jumping to conclusions? the other pics showed S-Off because the phone was a pre-release test phone that had come that way.
if its true,im certainly lookin forward to hearin more info
