What is the latest Guestimated Release Date

This phone sounds awesome - latest news from Verizon (reported on another Android site 2 days ago) is that this phone is coming out in mid-April. But I suppose these sales reps will say what you want to hear to keep you on the hook for this phone. So plus or minus a month? April-May? June?

I think it will be out in/before June as that was promised to us (but that doesn't mean crap for Verizon) but we will see. I want 4g but it's not a big deal, I do want a ff camera & dual core though. my X is getting really slow & I hate how people have had ff cameras for almost a year and Verizon is still taking their sweet ass time getting one to us. If it wasn't for the awesome network, I would have switched a while ago to a network that will provide up to date phones within a reasonable time. I always shit from people i*hones about their FF camera that they have had since June of last year.

Isn't it true that the front facing camera will only work for phone/video calls on the 3G network when you have a wi-fi connection in addition to your 3G connection?

well that's obviously not true...unless someone has a death wish. I'm still betting on April or May.

Obviously, you can't state whether that is true or not. You have just as much info as the rest of us, and that is speculation...Nobody knows for sure and not even Verizon probably knows 100%.

Assuming Verizon gets the iPhone 5 at launch I doubt it will be June. Apple has always announced the new iPhone at WWDC in early June and typically releases it 3 weeks later. That would not be a good time to relase a flagship Android device or really any competing product for that matter.

Unless the iPhone 5 doesn't come with LTE (I doubt it, because I don't think LTE radios are power efficient enough for Apple's standards), then the Bionic will have a huge advantage.

I'm just upset about the low RAM and 4.3" screen (why not just 4" to use less power) and NO gyroscope (seriously?)...

But if the screen is good, the cracked bootloader yields some solid development, and the battery is really good...I might go with the Bionic.

Of course, that means I'll wait at least 60 days after its release to assess and read people's testimonials.

I'm giving Verizon till June/July to come out with a FF camera and dual core. I've had my update for OVER A YEAR and I'm still holding on to it.

If a good phone isn't out by July....HELLO SPRINT!!

I felt much better about this yesterday. Phandroid's got a couple articles citing that the Increidble 2 is in Best Buy's inventory already and that the Samsung Stealth might get Droid branding and released April 7. I don't think that makes us any closer to the Bionic. And the longer I wait, the more difficult the decision is going to be. They're now talking 1.2GHz dual cores coming out, the DX2 might be just as good an option (I don't care about FFCs and no 4G in my area), and I'm really tiring of my Droid. I don't know if it's Verizon or Motorola, but someone better get a move on and quickly.

Makes no difference which phone is better, the new iphone is going to dominate the news cycle in the month of June. It would be a bad business decision for Verizon to launch a new phone then since the new iphone would cannibalize sales of said Android phone. Plus, doesn't Verizon have a pretty consistent record of only launching one new phone a month?

I can't say for certain, but I think I remember more than one phone a month, just never two top tier phones from the same operating system. I agree, iPhone 5 will dominate regardless of specs b/c of the iSheep, but at least there's enough people out there who know about Android. I hope that next year, Android decides to go head to head with the iPhone 6. But I don't think this time would be beneficiary.

All I know is this, first dual core to launch gets my money.

I am seriously getting annoyed and TIRED of waiting.

Front Facing camera would be nice, but I have lived without it for years so I can live without it for another 2.

I am just TIRED of waiting for this phone, I have had the OG Droid since launch and an upgrade for nearly a year. GIVE ME MY PHONE!!!

Grrr.

I say May for the Bionic with at least three weeks between its release and the possible announcement of the iPhone 5. That puts the Bionic around 2nd week of May at the latest.

But I still maintain that the iPhone 5 will likely not be announced for Verizon the same time as at&t.

I hate hyping/estimating things but I'll post two pieces of evidence that suggest to mid-april:
1) News Article from today which doesn't carry too much weight in my opinion
2) Black_Man_X, who is consistently on point with tips, suggests a new dual core 4G is coming out in "then you may yet have several weeks... YOU MAY WANT TO WAIT TO BUY…"

anyways, all speculation but this is now the phone I'm hoping for, especially when black_man_x recommends the wait.

The line about Stevie Austin being blury is an obvious reference to MotoBlur. At least to me.

This can only be Bionic since he said Blur, LTE, and dual core.

Yep. More than obvious. Nununununuuuu! ;)

What I don't understand is how the Bionic could be so close (a few weeks?) yet so little information on it relative to other devices. It seems disproportionately quiet on the Bionic front considering how close it allegedly is to release.

FFC and dual core is a MUST for me, but I don't care about 4G. But I do feel you on the getting sick of the Droid part.

I think Verizon and Moto may REALLY be dropping the ball here. My friend works at Sprint and is pushing me hardcore.

I like Verizon, but it seems like they're stuck in neutral at the starting line and everyone else is already on their 2nd lap.

I've been wondering the same thing, but it wouldn't be the first phone on any network to have that happen. Hell, no one heard spit about the Merge (well, not since last year ), and then boom, it's dropping in a few days. But I def don't understand why we haven't heard anything from them. Hell, if they could just say it's coming soon, something, anything, give us something!

I'm not one to just up and leave a service provider, mostly cause I don't like hassles or ETFs. lol But I know my bill would be cheaper with Sprint. I don't know if their merger with AT&T is better or worse for customers, but this has got to mean that Verizon has to get a move on. The Thunderbolt just doesn't cut it, and neither will a Samsung, and def not the LG, which every other iteration of the same phone is dual core except this one.

And Steve Austin refers the the Six Million Dollar Man - ie a Bionic. Pretty cut and dry reference imo. Bionic it is

Samsung Charge...mid April
incredible S...mid May
Bionic...early June
LG Revolution...late June
Droid x 2...early July

Then Android gets shut down for the rest of the Summer to prepare for the iPhone 5 for a late July or early August release.

Lol...just fun speculation

Perhaps it's time to take things up a notch. I propose a hostage situation. Every day that goes by without Motorola and Verizon even mentioning the Bionic, I will kill a beer. I'll send the bottle cap to them as a message. "Leinenkugel sleeps with the fishes".

You see what you're doing to me? I'm getting delirious. Give me my @#$% phone!

TMobile is merging with ATT not Sprint. But that's where I'm at, Sprint doesn't jack their customers around, they're cheaper, and now they have better phones.

I realize this is just as bad as the "my girl friend's mother's sister knows a guy" threads, but I went into Verizon today because I'm probably going to return the TB Wednesday because of the tiny battery. I asked when the Bionic was coming out, and at first she said "We don't have a release date." Then I said I heard rumors about end of April, and then she replied "that is probably correct...."
