Root [CDMA] any chance of root available pre sale?

i no it may be a little early but what does everything think about the possiblity that there is a root or unrevoked root available by the time it comes out? currently running evo 4g rooted with cyanogen rc 7. definately want 3d but wanna root it asap after i get it!

Chances of root before launch will be based on whether or not devs get their hands on the device prior to launch or not.

It was easy last year for a root to be available launch day for the the OG Evo cause Google gave a ton of them out at the I/O conference. If they do that again this year, I'm sure that will happen again.

my guess.. it will be rooted within a week of release.

ROMs will be out within a week or 2 after that.

Hopefully the boot loader isn't encrypted and we won't have to wait that long for a root/rom. The best thing about HTC evo is the huge support from developers.

Depending on if the patch that Google just put into Gingerbread makes it into the final Evo 3D release build, we could possibly use Gingerbreak to root.

according to that link, the exploit only works on phones with unlocked bootloaders:

AGAIN, THIS DOES NOT WORK ON S-ON DEVICES !

so it won't work on Evo 3D, which will most likely ship with a locked bootloader. Doesn't mean the locked bootloader implies that rooting is impossible (see http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all-things-root/329819-no-need-panic-about-locked-bootloader.html). It's just that this particular root exploit won't work.

It worked on my Droid X with a leaked Gingerbread update, depending on the build. I read about how it worked for Driod 2's, as well. Both of those have locked bootloaders.

Maybe it's best he doesn't know...maybe he'll continue to find ways of rooting for S-ON stuff
