Help Notification setting

Have the Evo 4G with Mikfroyo V4.5 ROM

Trying to get it so I can turn my notification setting up so I can actually hear it without turning up my ring tone volume(trying to keep ring tone volume down while keeping notification volume loud).

I've tried different market widgets and apps and none of them allow me to move the Notification volume independently from the Ring tone volume. It seems as though these two volumes are connected and I need to "un-connect them" i guess.

Anyone have any tips on this issue I'm having?

I have also tried selecting a notification sound and used the volume buttons on the side to increase the volume but when I go to the home screen my ring tone volume is also turned all the way up. Just a heads up in case you try to send me in that direction.
 
Menu --> Settings --> Sound --> Volume (set audio volume) --> Make sure "use incoming call volume for notifications" is unchecked.
 
New problem, well more like an annoyance, I have my ring volume on 1 and when I go to pick my ring tone it will test at that volume. As soon as I receive a call it will start off soft than go to really loud. I have my settings set at making the tone soft when the phone is moved yet it doesn't seem to work so I just changed that setting, Nothing. Just goes right from soft to Very loud. Any one have any idea why? It's getting pretty annoying..
 
Update... did some searching around and it seems that when the evo proximity sensor is covered on the phone it is set in the OS (SENSE) to ring as loud as possible, when the sensor is not covered perhaps out in the open on a desk it will ring at the set volume level. Now i guess my next queation is, is there a way to disable this feature in root? Devs check in to it if u get a chance, would really like to get this tweaked so my phone doesn't wake the dead from my pocket.
 
tryed an app called "sanity", though it did have proximity settings, it was a no go when I placed my phone in my pocket and called it. Started off soft than turned really loud like usual.. damn..
 
can you not just uncheck the volume increase selection in sounds?

I am still confused...mine has never done this

Yes made sure to do this, my notification volume is at like 5 and my ring volume is at 1. Every test I do with the phone in the dark (in my pocket, put a pair of jeans over the face, ect) it rings loud. Every time I have my phone in the open (next to my computer, on the dinner table, ect) it rings softly. Man I just want it to ring one volume and that's it.

I posted on XDA on Mikfroyo v4.5 (as that's the ROM i have), curious to see what they say.
