Root Blue particle ring boot animation

Valkerie

Android Enthusiast
This was on my Nookcolor's Phiremod v5.2 ROM. I tested it on my Ally and it looks great(I think).

Thanks to Dysgenic on XDA for the original animation.

I'm stealing your instructions SWC2001. :D

Here's the download:
http://joeschlagel.dyndns.org/file/bootAnimationBlue.zip

To install it place the file on the root directory of the SD card and then
disconnect the phone from the computer when done placing it on the SD card.

Then open the Terminal Emulator app from the market and
type the following:

/$ su
/# cp sdcard/bootAnimationBlue.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
/# reboot

It should also work if you put the boot animation in the /system/media folder. That's typically where I put them to save space in the /data folder.

Here's a video of it on my Nook Color. I took it with my Ally.:p

I like it, thanks.

Here's a screenshot for those interested. The ring on the outside spins and leaves that little particle trail behind it.

dang it, I'm not very skilled using a terminal, but this looks easy as pie. So how come I can't seem to manage it? I have the zipfile on my sd, I open a terminal & see:
$ export $ PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH
$
(could they make the font ANY smaller??)
So at the $, I put in /$ su and hit enter & get "permission denied". What am I missing here?

thanks for any help.
p.s., oh I am trying to add this to my Phiremod 6.3'd Nook Color

If you are running velocity 1.0 or 1.1 go open up the terminal emulator and go into cosmetic changes and you change the boot animations with the touch of a button. Otherwise I dont think you need the "/" just "su"

in velocity 1.1 (which you should be running) su is set when you open Terminal emulator. Just type "velocity (without quotes) and you'll get in
:D

I got thru it one time, then up popped several options after entering the commandline info:
recurse
force overwrite
etc (which isn't mentioned above) & I didn't know what to do. Trying typing -f which was next to force overwrite, but "not found" again
Started over & now as I type in the command again, the words disappear almost as fast as I'm typing them. I must really be thick.

btw, is there any way to bump up the fontsize for the terminal? I swear I'm having to hold a magnifying glass in front of my eyes...

What version of velocity are u using? If u are on 1.1 go into velocity toolkit->terminal emulator-> enter "velocity" ->cosmetic changes -> "#1 change boot animations" then its #5 I believe.

I believe this version of the animation is smoother than the one in the scripts. At least it seems so on my phone.

ok, I finally got it to work . Apparently I was missing a space between parts of the second line. Thanks for all the suggestions & assistance!!

Yes, in the Velocity Toolkit, after selecting Terminal Emulator, press the menu button, then Preferences. Under Text, you can then select the font size. My old eyes need about a size 14 pt:o
