3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

. Single core MSM8660 could easily handle 2d/3d 720p or 1080p with current DDR Silicon on EVO 3D. Engine we use to test CPU loads show a decreased from 35% to 10% on both procs on all simulated test including 720p and 1080p in 2d/3d recording. While streaming via HTC Media Link/DLNA it is less than, resulting in EVO 3D sleeping while streaming. I think this will provide breathing room for the developing community to OC EVO 3D easily to 1.5ghz.

BlueScreen, this is absolutely fantastic, shocking, performance! Now I wonder why are you not providing 3D@1080p recording option? I mean 3D@720p is already something but on those current big 3D TV's 1080p would be still an improvement in picture quality.

What are the HD recording bitstream rates? What is/are the file format(s)? If you have such big leeway in processing then video quality can be made really good by allowing for selecting higher bit rates. You can then guys replace the need for 1000$ 3D video camcorders which start showing up. EVO 3D looks like a bargain then;). I am getting convinced that with some marketing lots of people who are buying now 3D TV's will be inclined to buy EVO 3D to have cheap 3D camera/camcorder. Please only secure playback compatibility via HDMI and DLNA with 3D TVs from leading brands.

I would suggest that info in this thread stay as pure speculation, until confirmation of things come out.

No offense to Bluescreen, but I still would not believe that you are involved with working on the E3D without undeniable proof.

Just doesnt add up.

So me, personally, will not take any info as Fact until HTC/Sprint says so.

Yeah especially going through what we went through last year in the OG Evo forum leading up to its release with people spewing rumors and speculation as fact and what a mess that turned out to be.

So let's test BlueScreen: How about beer opener in the EVO 3D? Don't mind 3D@1080p , THAT would make every other phone in the galaxy pale in comparison:D.

Has it been determined if this new version of sense allows for the use of controllers via bluetooth? Apologies if this has been answered already.

Peace All,

Just watched another video regarding the HTC EVO 3D, according to the person demoing unit, he said that the device is a little bit taller than the OG Evo and skinnier
if both have a 4.3 size screen how is that possible (shouldnt width & height be identical?). Or did they streamline the sides of device (including top & bottom) taking out unnecessary space--similar to how the HTC Thunderbolt freed up unnecessary space at top w/ its grill as opposed to the Evo.

anybody have any clues on this?

screen measurements:
the diagonal measurement stayed the same ..4.3inches
but the sides changed.
up and down = got taller
left and right = got shorter
in other words the screen itself is more "widescreen" friendly.

so the over all phone .. got taller.
and since the width did not change...
that means the the bezel (space between the screen and edge of phone) is thicker. that sucks

in some usages.. this is good with "widescreen".
but in others, it will suck.
take navigation:
the top has notification bar, then a think info bar, and at the bottom there is another information bar... which leaves the rest for map info.
in portrait mode.. the bars dont take much space.
in landscape on the OG EVO... the bars eat up a lot of space and takes away realestate for maps.
with a thinner screen, the landscape map mode will even be less.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding you, but if you are saying the width didn't change, I do believe the entire width of the phone is less than that of the EVO.

Hmmm, intereting. All the reviews I watched said it was much easier to hold and the bezel doesn;t seem notably different between the two.

Thanks for the linked pics
It is hard to see in pics...
But you are being mislead by the side curve of the phone.... edge has big curve.. that is the difference

We got one picture out of him...how many more can we get? Moar! This part of the forum was dead over the weekend and of course it was my boring weekend surfing the interwebs.

according to the info that i have found..
new is taller.. and thinner... but the width is same.
All the paper specs I've seen indicated that the E3D is taller but that the width and thickness are the same.

But the hands on impressions mention that the E3D is narrower than the 4G:

^^^ yes.. and I can find a bunch of them listing the dimensions that are thinner.

there are even specs that dont match other things too.

we will not really know till full disclosure is announced.

But you're concluding the Evo 3D is wider instead? I may not have searched as far and wide as you have, but I haven't seen anything that indicates the Evo 3D is wider than the 4G.
