froyo 2.2 for virgin usa samsung intercept

why would u downgrade to the lg android phone
I have been asking myself the same question

The Lg Optimus V has a slightly better screen, a gpu and more ram, however it has a lower end processor and lacks the physical keyboard. It works great for small apps but the Intercept should be able to push higher level apps then the Optimus.
If you just want a simple phone with a nice response time go with the Optimus. If you are a techy and want a keyboard for other then texting then wait for the 2.2 update.
From what I have seen the Intercept 2.2(sprint) responds equally to Optimus. So it seems the Optimus's real advantage is the OS.
This is just speculation because I have only seen others the sprint Intercept so I have not been able to do any benchmarking and os-wize 2.1 os vs 2.2 os, the 2.2 will win hands down.

The initial software update push will be to 5,000 Intercept users starting April 11th.
Woot! That is 1 day after my milk expires!!!

:D We should start predicting release dates!
VM can play too, we will count their official release dates as their guess because it's obvious that they do not know when it is going to happen ether.

 I predict that we get 2.2 after the sales from the Optimus die down.
Why put 2.2 on an old phone when you can shove a new phone down our throats?

Correction: April 11th IS when my milk expires... WOOT!

Mmmmmm keep that milk around until u get 2.2 then take a victory shot of amazing molding milk then thank vm hahaha

I just got the text msg as well. I registered w/ this site to inform u guys of the details since i know u've been at the edge of your seat as I have (I've been following this thread since early jan).

Here's the exact text word for word of the text msg:

"Starting 4/11/11, you will be notified of a phone software upgrade available for your Intercept. Click http://msg4u.us/isr for more information."

Incase you're not able to view the above link it redirects you to a page on the VM website and says the following:

"Within the next few weeks you will be receiving a prompt on your phone to update your Intercept phone software from 2.1

Just got the text message confirming I will be receiving the update push on April 11th. I guess all those emails I sent to VM paid off!

VM delay of the intercept 2.2 update shall now be known as the "Molding Milk Crisis."
Here is to VM for their hard work *takes a shot*

I didn't get the update text :( my milk will be unhappy...

so i was thinkin about the website they gave in the text it didnt say anything about flash for websites does anyone know if the sprint intercept got this feature in the update?

I am very suspicious about the email that everyone is quoting (msg4u.us/isr ) because it is NOT a virgin mobile domain. It might take you there, but the question is what it is doing before it re-directs you to VM (if in fact it does). I am going to wait for a more legitimate link unless I hear from VM that this one is legit.

It's not from an e-mail, it's from a text sent by VMFreeMsg, which is their own automated messaging service. So if the horse's mouth isn't good enough for you, then I don't know what you're looking for.

First, it's not an email. It's a text message. VM uses the shorter url in order to keep the length of the text shorter. That post I made was an EXACT copy of the text word fofor word. It came directly from VMFreeMsg (#8682). Anyone else here that got the text can contest to the validity of that url. EDIT : here, a direct link to the site it brings you to : http://vm.tmce.biz/wap4?app=virginmobile&c=vir&NEXT=P5

even though i know that it kills battery life, will the froyo enable the intercept to have live wallpaper?
and will being able to store apps on a memory card help make the phone go faster/waste less battery?

Yeah its real enough. I dont like the language used in it such as "within the next few weeks"(meaning what 3 or 5 or 7?) and the "starting april 11th"( not sure if that means they are actually rolling out then or just getting ready starting then.) Also I wonder why it is some of us got the VM and some did not. Is this because we are the chosen first wave or whatever? Or have others just not gotten them yet? But i am happy at least they are officially saying that we are going to have it. Makes me mad though that the language used implied it could go well beyond the end of april for some.

That's an interesting link. Why would Virgin Mobile direct you to a domain owned by Trilibis Inc. rather than to one of their own domains?

the post for the url for the link that i got is word for word what this guy posted. all i know is tomorrow ill have my phone at full charge n be waiting for the update. i did get the text from vm from the same number they asked if i wanted to donate money to japan disaster or whatever so i feel its really from vm no question

Yep came from same portal as the Japanese relief. Regarding the links domain, I have no idea why they chose to do it that way but there's multiple people confirming they got the same thing so take your guard down and be happy the update is finally coming! Hehe. As far as why some have gotten the text and others haven't, they've been saying for a while now that they were going to roll it out in groups instead of all at once

They've confirmed the exact same message on their Facebook page, in the discussion forum.

I went to the discussion thread where Virgin Mobile USA posted the message at the top of the thread. It was the same as the one posted in this forum except that it didn't contain the URL. Someone else in that discussion thread (not Virgin Mobile USA) posted that he received the message and it contained the URL. Virgin Mobile USA might have posted the message containing the URL in another discussion thread, but I couldn't find it.

My friend and I both have the same phone and service. He got the text message but I did not. I guess that means that he's going to get it before me? I hope they don't make me wait too much longer than the people that got the text message.

Any info about anybody getting it yet? What time are they supposed to start releasing it?
