Might be switching to Thunderbolt

It's been a fun ride guys but there are 2 main reasons why I might be switching over to Verizon within the week.

1. 4G

2. Unlimited Data

I'm tired of waiting on AT&T and their non existing HSPA+ network. I want fast LTE now and not next year or whenever it makes its way to AT&T. I would have stayed if customer loyalty had at least bumped me up to an unlimited plan but they couldn't even do that so I'm purchasing a Thunderbolt through Amazon. I'll probably end up selling the Inspire so I can recoup some of my losses on the early termination fee.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Inspire, just not the network.
 
I see wat u mean wit the unlimited data plan that's a big plus....but I know people have different opinions on every network but from my personal experience with being a Verizon customer bak then was a bad experience dey would charge me these extra prices every month the times I would be revered to customer service it would be so frustating...not bashing Verizon at all buy that was my experience...hopefully u enjoy your bolt and Verizon

If you want to go for it. I left for a nexus S. All I will say to you friend is the battery life on LTE is garbage and don't think Verizon is any better than ATT been there done that. Just weigh the speed for battery life decision closely . If your on 4G average thunderbolt gets 4 hours. Is that worth the speeds ? If you feel it is God speed enjoy your new phone :)

Non-existing HSPA+ network, you got that right. Amazing the phone says H+, even in EDGE territory.

Verizon will eventually go to metered plans like AT&T, but probably won't be as stingy as AT&T. But If you signed a verizon contract now, you'd be on the unlimited for the duration of your contract.

I did the same with AT&T. I was on an enterprise plan, and I pleaded with them about loyalty, and an unlimited plan. It still exists, but all AT&T could say is "There is no such thing".

I just flat out refused to pay $25 extra for 2GB of EDGE data.

yep, amazon has it for $179 now.

The thunderbolt most certainly can't be much different than the Inspire as far as battery life, being as its practically the same phone build (with a few minor differences).

i'd not complain about the battery life as much if I had a FAST network with UNLIMITED (and I don't really care much about "unlimited"...I'm not a data hog, and my phone life doesn't rely around being "online" all the time...but damnit, I dont want to have to continually check my usage for every little MB I use. I want to use a smartphone with all its features, and if it requires data to do it, then its there.......

Battery life has never been a concern for me. I have multiple car chargers laying around and my Inspire is plugged in at my desk throughout most of the day. Fortunately for me I have the type of job where I'm constantly near an outlet.

Exactly the reasons why I'm leaving. I hate having to monitor my usage daily to make sure I stay under the cap. I mean I can if I want to but that's not what a smartphone is for. I want to be able to use my phone when and however I want without being concerned on how much data I'm consuming.
 
Back to my trusty ole Moto Razr V3 Blue i've had for 3 years now....
Guess i'm not ready for a smartphone yet........

(the only smartphone i tried that even came close to being considered "acceptable" was the Virgin Mobile Optimus V $109 when I got it, with the $25 unlimited data plan, and 300 minutes.) . . . but Sprint's coverage in this town is spotty and only covered by a single T-1 fed tower).

Don't believe that - it's a whole new technology which includes a brand new hardware modem and a new software modem that hasn't been optimized.
 
Well, I was a sucker for buying the Inspire (and it's new, so called 4G).

I probably wont fall for another "new, just released phone".

of course, maybe its an HTC thing, who knows.

Yes and the fact that the battery is only slightly bigger than the inspire and yet uses double the bandwidth. Ps its freakin heavy and much thicker than the inspire as well
 
Ah yeah i was tempted by the Thunderbolt too. That LTE network is just too awesome to resist. And regardless of size the T-bolt is almost the same as any recently related HTC phone UI wise. Which is good for me. I woulda jumped to big red but I can't afford pay for my early termination fee just yet. :/
Maybe once my contract is up in a year I can decide of i want to jump on over to verizon or see what at&t has to offer at that time (iftheres no LTE by then, then im out lol)

I was under the assumption that if I lock in now I'll be grandfathered in by the time tiered plans roll out.
 
Did AT&T take away UNLIMITED data for those already in a contract when they went to tiered data?

I dont see how that can happen when you're in a contract.

i've read users in this very forum who have upgraded to the inspire who already were ON the unlimited plan, and got to keep theirs when they switched.

I have had a few phones since the att tiered plans came out and I got to keep my unltd plan through it all. Same goes for my husband. each time they mentioned that since I already had the unltd plan it stays with me until Icancel it.

Yea I don't see how they can but I definitely don't want to be surprised 2 years down the road. My brother has been with them for almost 10 years, both he and his wife have Droid X's and he swears by Verizon.

Andrea, aren' t you thinking about moving to Verizon? Something about not being able to root one of your phones? :)

I just canceled the Thunderbolt order. :)

You ask why?

I am now officially on an AT&T unlimited 3G smartphone plan.

But Shawn how is that possible?

A, Get an iPhone2G (first generation)
B, Activate it on iTunes and register with AT&T for the unlimited $20 plan and 200 text messages (edit- make sure you put the simcard in before you connect to itunes)
C, Confirm on AT&T's website that you're now on the $20 iPhone 2G plan
D, Call in to AT&T and tell the CSR that you're switching to an Inspire and that you want to keep your unlimited smart-phone plan
E, CSR rep will try to switch you to 2GB for $25 or 200MB for $15 but stand fast and demand that you keep unlimited
F, CSR rep will then upgrade you to the $30 unlimited smart-phone plan.

BTW - Make sure you get your text messages switched back to unlimited or whatever you had it at.

So Shawn does this really work?

Now kiddies go grab an iPhone 2G post haste because it's rumored that this loophole is about to get patched by the end of the month.
 
Shoulda got the T-bolt! It is awesome. I've owned both phones, and I think the Inspire is a dang good phone.

But the T-bolt...well...I love the t-bolt...

And it sounds like it would have been perfect for you, seeing as how you are near plug all day and like unlimited data.
