CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Alpha - Prepaid Android

How is the functionality of CM6? (related to bugs and issues)

It seems like it would be more stalbe, because this phone will eventually be updated to Froyo.

Is CM6 more stable than the build of CM7?

I didnt see a diff when it came to stability. I like cm7 so I flashed back to it. CM7 is more of a side project as the dev (isaac) has time to work on it, and he has other irons in the fire. Pip is actively working on cm6, so it has that advantage.

Yeah I know it's just a side project for Isaac. So I hope CM6 will eventually become superior in stability.

I might try it just to see what it is like lol.

I flashed to this yesterday after reading about the CM7 situation..and I think its just as good as CM7. The only thing I miss is the applications menu in CM7. Other than that I'm satisfied. I thought I'd miss the CM7 keyboard but the one in CM6 is great too! Nice work Pip and IsaacJ!

Flashed last night. You had me at "Hello". MMS or not I'm in, absolutely fantastic. I am completely in love with the keyboard.

So if I'm reading this correctly ... the only thing not working correctly (at least for now) is MMS ... correct?

What about USB tethering using PdaNet or EasyTether etc. ?

WiFi Tether n PDANet works on CM7 so I dont see why they wouldnt work on CM6 :)

i tried that once, it works just fine. personally i'd be careful with wifi tethering, as others have stated it's not meant to be run on our hw. the phone heating up like that....is VERY bad. i wouldnt wifi tether my ascend ever for that reason alone.

i have barnacle wifi running for hours on end and i don't notice much of a temp increase... i did w/ the wifi tether that doesn't require root...

.... on a different subject, pip is there an ETA on getting the mms to work? once that is done i can flash the rom w/ out the wife complaining about losing her mms

i no longer have service on my ascend, i couldnt test anything etc. would make it really hard to fix. there has been a lot done already for mms. someone with service needs to continue and debug where we are at.

btw i only used barnacle. any temp increase is too much usually for a phone. in my opinion.

Dont think I would be much help on debugging, but I'd be glad to test for you :)

The best way to test on the Ascend is to get a very, very large rock and smash it as hard as possible onto the front of the phone. I've gotten great results from that.

lol, if you two would do me a fav and PM me with the info on what all you used and did while compiling these to fine ROMs I may see if I can remember how to do it. lol I use to compile gentoo and FreeBSD all the time about 3 or 4 years ago. Android is about the same isnt it??
