Root So I have fallen behind the times, I need to know which SBF I need.

Hey guys. Haven't been here in a while, though I was more of a lurker so you probably don't know me anyway.

Anyways back when I used to stay around here, I updated to Froyo and used the removeable apps list to get rid of the crapware. I deleted them rather than freezing them, stupid I know. So now I can't update the phone, and I'm not even sure which apps I'm missing.

Currently I'm on 2.3.15, Android 2.2. Not really sure which SBF file to use though, because I remember people saying that not all of them were compatible with each other, or something to that effect. Can anybody help me out?

Also, did Honeycomb actually leak on the Droid X, or was that something I misread? Seems like an awfully big jump from 2.2 to 3.0.

Oh so I can go straight from .15 to .340? Sweet, thanks a lot man! I'll assume the maderstcok.zip is the .zip you're referring to. Thanks again.

So is the Maderstcok the right one to use then? Cause trav just said to use the full sbf haha.

Well, there the deal. IF you want to go on to Gingerbread from stock 2.3.340, you will have to do an sbf. If you are fine with going to the latest stock froyo and taking the OTA in a couple of weeks, then you can use maderstock. SBF just sounds scary. It is very difficult to render your phone a complete brick and SBF is something that is good to be comfortable with because it will get you out of the most dire situations that your phone can get into.

Nah it's not the SBFing part I'm afraid of. I've done it a few times already. I just really would like this to be as effortless as possible. I guess I'm just lazy like that haha.

Guess I'm going with the full SBF then in that case. Thanks again guys, you've all been a lot of help. This is why I love this place :D

EDIT: Yeah I'll definitely try to keep up this time. Just last time it kinda died down after the whole unable to make a custom kernel thing. You know, short attention span and all haha.

Oh believe me. I understand the lazy part! I tried to use the .zip against the instructions of P3droid. Very quickly, I realized that I'd be running SBF that day. :D
