Root Looking around for a rom dump from Tapout Edition Ascend.

no prob....however.....:D I followed toke n pokes instructions....got upgraded....backed up apps w titanium backup backed up contacts to sd...installed cm7 now cant seem to find my contacts or get the backed up apps back..hmmmmm do I have to start from scratch?

Did you reinstall titanium back up? For the contacts just go to contacts, hit menu and import from sd.
 
what he said, it's a vcard that save to you sdcard when you click back up to vcard before you flash...

yeah....about that....contacts couldn't find it....:rolleyes: the phone said it saved it....but maybe it didn't...I just manually re- input about a hundred contacts..:D...hey is there a way to get the swype keyboard for cm7? I had actually become accustomed to it..GRIN

you could use root explorer and copy the swype keyboard.apk to your sdcard...than push it in app when you flash to cm7...
 
weeellll .............. cm7 didnt play so nice on my phone....i saw occasional "shadow " code in the background..alot of stuttering (jerky motion)....and my kindle app force closed or made me wait constantly....and my headset mic quit working......ive restored to factory and reinstalled root titanium bu, and cwm.....for my "stuff" including angry birds to work better...would i be better off with icarus or cm6?

In all likelihood you did something wrong when you flashed CM7. Cm6 is a great ROM too, icarus, well is good but its still 2.1 and doesnt compare to a CM ROM in any terms.

I'm not PG but, I'm sure he'd agree with me in saying Cm6 would be the best pick. To be honest, The TOE, It's iffy. We've had people hitting UIM errors. This is not pretty for the average user. Plus, The fact is that the TOE is still a stock 2.2.1. Cm6, On the other hand, Has more customizable features and is overclocked (710 VS. 600). It's really your choice but, Cm6 just seems like the more logical one to me.

Thanks September :) I appreciate the input..I'll give it a try and see what pops!! I can always restore to stock..:rolleyes: Nice to talk to a fellow floridian I'm from the Clearwater area myself...but i'm out in Texas for a year or two...
 
I agree with Rain, CM6 all the way, that is unless you're like me and like running cutting edge then CM7.1 with 2.3.4 and have something the expensive phones dont even have yet lol.

yep i was surprise when 2.3 got ported and my evo has 2.2, im like this little engine that could now have 2.3 hahahaha!!!!

i installed an earlier vers of cm7....I'm going to try again w/the newest version...oh and btw i saw something on one of the threads about installing the cwm .img file...how did that work again? :D
 
Well Updated theewest version cm7.1...works great except for my stereo headset mic. its not working at all....any thoughts? That and I can't quite figure out how to get swype to work...i can install it but cant switch to that keyboard..

install the latest build 05022011, and your problems should be fixed!
 
done the latest build is much better although the headset mic comes and goes...sometimes works sometimes doesn't...;o/
 
Just did the 05042011 version of cm7....practice makes perfect...or closer to perfect any way..:D I'm much more comfortable doing this now, and btw cm7 rocks!! still minor glitches but each new version is just getting better and better. So Thank You PlayfulGod, TokenPoke, Septembersrain, Nuttmeg, MoneyHoarder, and anyone else I missed for all the help thus far..you have made this experience ENJOYABLE for me!..:rolleyes: I actually LOVE my Ascend now...heh heh
