Still Confident Bravo is coming to Verizon

Do we know if the Bravo will have the ability to read DRM music files? I would love to get my tv shows on my android phone.

Not sure if this is good or bad news...But the sales of Nexus One are slow to say the least. See the attached article. Nexus One Slows And Woes | Android Phone Fans

Looks like the phone is having a few issues.

However maybe these slow sales will bring the Nexus One to Verizon faster OR and even better Verizon will not wait for this device and launch the Bravo. I am hoping Verizon will try to prove a point and lunch the Bravo and blow the Nexus One out of the water.

Verizon is also selling the Droid Eris for FREE. Hopefully they will get rid of the inventory soon and launch the Bravo in January!!! PLEASE launch the Bravo

Free only when you BUY another.
You got me excited there for a minute. eris blowout? not quite yet.

This is dumb. I had a dream last night that Verizon sold the rights to carry the Nexus One. At least, that's what the little bullet on the google.com/phone page said something to the effect of. I had gathered it meant Sprint was picking up the CDMA rights (sorry, Sprint fans ;)). I may have to lighten up on these boards. I mean, I really want a new phone, but I must be spending too much time following this if I'm dreaming about it. LOL

T-Mobile is going to get yet another new phone. The HTC HD2. A T-Mobile exclusive. Seems like HTC and T-Mobile have quite the partnership now. The phone can be seen on HTC's website. I am not sure when this was announced, but it was not there a few days ago. The phone will be running WinMo, not android.

I feel like this partnership with TMo/HTC is on a crash course for extinction in the next 1-1.5 years. With other carriers starting to get high end HTC devices (namely the N1 for VZW, Android phones headed to ATT from HTC, and other devices headed to VZW or Sprint from HTC) it is only a matter of time until TMo does not get any exclusive devices. I understand that they recently upgraded their network, but until they make some relatively significant improvements in their coverage area they will always be a back burner network. I think we will start to see a shift of Motorola and HTC starting to partner up with Big Red a lot more as they are AT&T's biggest competition.

On a side note, I think it is absolutely essential for HTC and Motorola to come out swinging in Q1 of this year. With rumors swirling that VZW will be getting the iPhone or some other Apple branded device HTC and Moto will have a hard time competing. I know plenty of people in my area that would leap at the chance to have an iPhone on VZW. I personally do not like the iPhone, but anyone with any knowledge of the mobile device landscape would be ignorant to disregard the status that the iPhone holds.

So where's mcbtrain929? I wonder if he heard anything back from that vzw manager? I guess he could still be..uh...pumping that girl for more information.

I couldn't agree more. If those Apple rumors are true, HTC and Moto will have to release some pretty serious phones just to compete because regardless of what people think, the iPhone is the iPhone; and the iPhone with VZW coverage would be THAT much better.

I agree completely, Apple could put the iPhone on VZW and completely dominate the U.S. handset market. The most horrific part of that statement is they do not need to make any changes to the current device to do so. If the iPhone takes on more progression such as adding the ability to multitask and other improvements while also being available to all networks within the states we could see the market get absolutely cornered. I do promote the competition, however I do not promote Apple fanboyism. This would help stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie sell more shirts for collar popping, visors, and flip-flops in winter however. The iPhone could be the saving grace to the world's economy :-).

Anyways, I hope I don't live to see the iPhone corner the market and kill competition. The last thing we need is for Apple to get so large in the mobile device department that they buy up other companies (such as HTC) and remove our ability to purchase a sleek looking device that we can do what we wish while running Android or WM.

Hopefully we hear something good coming from the HTC camp soon, but I can say truthfully at this point, I'm 95% sold on getting an N1 when it hits VZW.

I am totally sold on HTC and Android. I've played with it at the store and on my friends Droid for a few minutes, but I just spent an hour using the Eris. I was impressed. BUT!!!! I'm coming from a Storm 1. So ....

Anyway, my point is, I'm thinking of going and picking one up with another friend and split the cost of the BOGO deal going on right now (yes, we both have upgrades).

Also, I was impressed with the hardware and and the software. I can't imagine a phone (N1) with twice the processor speed, a bigger screen and more memory. Insane!

But seriously, Android FTW right now. RIGHT NOW. Not saying Apple can't come up with something to compete with it, but Android is so good.

Sorry for the long-winded post.

It was announced at CES last week. Probably just got around to putting it up on the website.

ROFL :D

I'm with you on being 95% sold on the N1 when it comes to Verizon. I'm unhappy that it's only sold through google and with the lack of as adequate of support, but I'll still buy it. I just hope they allow some more freedom with the plans, or maybe even let them carry it in stores. Probably wont happen though.

I'm still open to a better option though if it presents itself in a reasonable amount of time (aka... by the time the Nexus hits Verizon). If the Bravo / Incredible / Passion hits Verizon and is as good as the Nexus, I'd buy that instead. We shall see, all I know is I'm done waiting, one of these will be my phone.

Is it true that the nexus one cant be used with t-mobile family plans? If that is true with verizon.... I wont be getting it. Hopefully things will be different.

I hear you on this. I don't want to add minutes or features that I don't have now. I just want to keep my current plan and rate with a new handset. I also do wish it was sold in the store. I like to play with the phone a bit before I purchase and then I know at least I can fight w/VZW reps if I have issues. I don't know, hopefully they'll work something out and support it better than T-Mo has. Granted when it comes to support I have lost my belief in Big Red....they tend to screw me over....

so i got a reply from the vzw manager, and it wasn't much new info that we didnt already guess/know. heres the copies and pasted questions and answers:

-is the passion a different phone than the nexus one google phone?
-what company makes the passion? htc? motorola?
-how big is the screen?
-what version of android will it be running? 2.0? 2.1?
-i know theres no official release date, but, are we looking within the next 2 wks? 30 days? not til april?
-any word on prices?
-what color is the phone? what phone currently would you say it looks like the most?
-have you ever heard of these phones? htc bravo? htc incredible?
-any other android phones coming out in the near future besides the passion that you've heard of/played with?

1). Yes it is different from the nexus google phone, but only in subtle artistic ways. The HTC label is clearly missing from the Nexus phone. We believe that the reason it is not working so well is the T-Mobile network its on, and the bugs are not worked out yet. Thus the benefit of waiting for the Passion to come out on Verizon. So in a nutshell, they look very similar, except the nexus is running 2.1.

2). The passion is made by HTC

3). The screen size on the passion looks to be about the same as on the Nexus

4). By the time it is released in the Spring, we believe it will be upgraded from 2.0 and running the 2.1 like the nexus

5). Can't give ya a release date buddy, but all I can say is Spring, they usually let us know a few weeks before. I can keep Stephie updated.

6). if I had to guess.....anywhere between 299-399...depends on the deals and contracts

7). Looks exactly like the nexus one, still has that sleek black look and touch screen

8). From what I've heard, the Bravo is the European version of the Passion, nothing really different except for some of the physical features. Logo changing ect. Same for the HTC Incredible....these are different names floating around with tech geeks out there. All in all it might just come down to being named HTC Passion.

Alright man I hope this helps. All I can say is that new phones are coming out all the time with Verizon, and the system is going to keep improving, that's the problem with smartphones, you buy one and another comes out 2 months later with a better system. Its all about your comfortability with the phone.

so basically, the only info i pulled from here that might be useful is the spring release date, which would mean its not coming out soon like we've heard from other stories. but since theres nothing set in stone, its not out of the realm we could get a late feb/early march release (speculation on my part.)

Thanks for the info mcbtrain! At least we know something is for sure coming. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Feb. I'm still curious about the look of the phone though.

yeah, me too. he said its just like the nexus one, but then mentioned a sleek black finish, which is not what the n1 looks like. maybe (hopefully) it IS a lookalike of the touch hd.

Just a thought, but the rendering of the HTC Bravo is a black case...
