Root Full ROM Themeing?

I'm currently learning about theming a rom to my personal tastes. I found something called the Ultimate Themeing Guide over at XDA, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a little hard to understand in some areas. :o

I'd love to have as much info as possible before I attempt to try this. I really want to completely theme one of Kings roms to have the Super Mario theme I slapped together in my other thread, but on a whole rom scale. I want to change the actual icons, the notification bar icons, maybe theme the dialer, whatever I'm acuually able to theme without writing any serious code. I'm not too well versed in writing code...I'm actually completely unversed in writing code of this sort. :p

Does anyone have any good guides or resources for acomplishing this?

I'm hellbent on doing this, so I'm willing to put the time in to learn. :D

King is a really good dev as long as you don't distribute without credit or create issues people will ask him about he wont mind...

I assume the info for doing the stated above is in the ultimate themeing guide right?
I don't need to set up a ubuntu virtual machine and run a kitchen do I?

I've begun to imerse myself in the ultimate guide for now. READ, READ, READ! I'm gonna read until my brains turn to toothpaste. :)

Any advice is always appreciated. :o

No you don't need it but it wouldn't hurt :). Need sdk, jdk, and jre though.
 
I have never modified anything in a ROM except a couple of theme zips and such. As long as you let King know that you are going to be theming his ROM and give him or anyone else's stuff you used credit he should be fine. I would throw him a PM on XDA if you want to be sure though.

I haven't messed with anything yet. I want to have a good understanding before I start. I'll pm King today just to be ahead of the game. Thanks for the heads up.

I guess I could just take one of the theme zips and mod that. I'm gonna read some more before I start. :)
 
Good news I got the green light from King! Once I get learned and mod this sucka, I'll shoot out a link!
