Root GingerBreak-v1.20 Clarification Needed

Hello,

Forgive me, but I am getting quite confused with this GingerBreak thing.

Very simple:

If I am currently running Gingerbread .588 rooted & deodexed, and I install "Full Gingerbread (2.3.3) Rooted (Blur Version 4.5.591)-Deodexed Fully" from Team Black Hat, do I still need to do anything with GingerBreak? I would assume by the title, that this version of Gingerbread .591 is ALREADY rooted, therefore what good does GingerBreak v1.20 do for me?

I see so many references to "run GingerBreak" after installing .591 that I just want to be 100% sure of what is actually needed. I realize there are several versions of .591 out there...some of which are not pre-rooted. Those are the ones that I thought GingerBreak was for.

Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me!

Yes you need to run gingerbreak. You will not have root, even with the deodexed files. I believe everything is deodexed except for the framework and hence the need for gingerbreak. It will be easy to tell since you will not have superuser in your app drawer.

If he installs the fully deodexed version of 4.5.591 then framework and apps are both deodexed...........Gingerbreak is needed because you loose root when applying the fully deodex version.

It says its a "rooted" version, so its not really?

Kevro just try to run an app that needs root like Root explorer or titanium backup and If it works you don't need GingerBreak.

Just having Superuser in the app drawer doesn't mean you have root... I d/l'd .591 and flashed it to my device, still had SU in the drawer, but did NOT have root until I ran GingerBreak.
The clue I got was when I tried to use Ti backup it said I needed root to run the program, went to SU and found out I wasn't rooted, even though it was in the app drawer.
Don't assume it works unless you try it out, I guess.
