Root Need help unrooting Droid X 2.2.1

Hello.

I am new to rooting. Rooted my Droid X (2.2.1) last week, flashed to Apex 1.4. Can someone point me in the right direction to un-rooting it back to stock. Been having some problems with phone freezing and randomly shutting down and want to have it unrooted in case I need to return it to verizon (it's only a few months old). I've seen Rooler's step by step but it seems that is for 2.2 (not 2.2.1). Thanks in advance!!

install the z4root app and reboot, then unroot
and reboot

if you need to return it to verizon your going to have to sbf back to stock

and my x used to have random reboots as well, but i havent had one in months, and i have been on apex and liberty for those times.

wouldn't flashing maderstcok.zip be even easier??

Sorry for my ignorance but how do I sbf back to stock? I ran a backup right after I rooted (before I flashed to Apex). Could I just restore to that backup and then un-root?

i still forget about maderstcok lol

well how would get get rid of root? once you unroot the superuser icon still remains. flashing maderstcok will eliminate it for you, and you will be bone stock, you did the proper thing by making a backup, but you will still have superuser installed, and if you need to return it flash the maderstcok and you will be stock

Will flashing to maderstock remove all of the apps I have or will they all reinstall from my google account after I flash? Do I have to un-root after I flash to maderstock?

you need to wipe data and cache when installing maderstcok so yes your apps will be removed, and you will be unrooted, and your apps should reinstall automatically through google

So maderstcok will flash back to stock and un-root? Sounds like just what I am looking for - thanks!!

Another question - because I have rooted my phone and flashed Apex, does that mean that if there is an OTA update (2.3 ?) that I won't get it unless I unroot and go back to stock?

OK so my plan is to do the following:

1. Run backup just in case
2. Format data, Format Cache
3. Flash madestock

Sound about right?

OK so I am back to stock, how do I restore all of my apps? I thought that they would just start downloading as soon as I activated, the same as after I rooted but so far nothing.

you may have to redownload them, not all phones are the same, mine always began redownloading by going to market, menu and hit downloads, and i always saw minie there. some phones are different, but all your purchased apps should be there, and just search for your apps again

yup...actually it was quite weird...on Froyo (Blur, or any custom ROMS) my phone would NEVER redownload apps automatically...going to the market i would only have my purchased apps...and i would HAVE to restore them from Titanium, or redownload them from the market...

but once i made the switch to the GB leak now they auto restore from the market...

everytime i sbf. i usually wait about 10 - 15 minis for all my apps to get done redownloading, so i dont know, all phones are different :p

yeah man they totally are...the first time i flashed the original Gingerbread leak almost as soon as the phone booted up and got a data connection icons started popping up on my notification bar saying it was downloading apps from the market...i didn't even have a chance to use titanium to restore them lol

yeah funny that when I flashed to apex, the automatically downloaded but when I went back to stock, I had to do it manual - all set now - thanks for all of the help. Back to stock and everything seems to be working fine.
