Help HELP!! Is there anyway to close APP's all together?

When i use my Inspire and open up the app's i sometimes go to different apps to use. Is there anyway i could close all my apps after i'm done using them? To a point where it won't use the Data anymore until i open up the app again. And what is the proper way or is there a proper way to close apps? Because i read somewhere that there is a certain way to close apps soo it not completely running anymore. I know that you can go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> Running. And press that "Force Stop" but that takes to long to stop everything.

I posted this link in another thread to help explain the process android goes through with apps an opening or closing them. Some people choose to use a task killer to stop open apps from running but they seem to do more harm than good. I personally haven't used one on my inspire and just let things taking their course. I do use watchdog lite to monitor apps in case one goes crazy and starts using over 50% on the cpu at which point I get a notification an can then have the option to kill that one application

And if you want to conserve data use set all of your stuff to manual sync or maybe every 3-6hrs like email, facebook, twitter, news weather etc.

long story short, just let android do the work on closing your apps. just because an app is open, doesn't mean it is running. if you close the apps, they are just gonna reopen, then you waste more battery life constantly shutting down apps that will just reopen.

the only time to kill an app is when its acting up on you, then you just go through the application settings like the OP pointed out.

You can use the back button to close out of an app. I'm not sure how much it "kills" an app but it kills its process based off my testing. But i agree let android control the process and it will kill apps as needed.

I still don't like Android's design of not allowing users to exit an app. I understand that Android is supposed to manage the apps/processes automatically. But that is in an ideal world with ideal developers. I bet the majority of the apps are not coded ideally. What's wrong with having an exit button for an app? If anything, it would make the list of open apps much shorter so I can actually find the app I want to switch to.

I agree with this. When I made the jump from my winmo phone i couldn't understand and was rather frustrated with not having the little "x" in the upper right corner to completely exit the task is was in. But after 4 android phones I guess now I just don't even think about it.

Maybe Android is supposed to do that, but that's not how it happens in reality. When I look at my active apps in a task manager, the majority of them I have not even used in days. Using a task killer doesn't help, because they'll just respawn later.

Dude just because an app is showing up in a task manager does not mean it is running and hogging up resources. Once you open your mind to this and learn to accept that this just how android operates you will be fine.
