Thor Movie thread

I work at a movie theater, and after Iron Man 2, when there was the short part about Thor, when it showed his hammer, someone went:
"Woah, is that Zelda's hammer?" we all lol'd ^^
I'm excited for all the releases of the such coming out: Captain America, Thor, Green Lantern, Green Hornet...

Wow that looks good, Natalie Portman always a +, nice cast too, this is another must see methinks

Watched it Saturday and it wasn't a bad film. Nothing spectacular, but good nonetheless. It seemed to drag during some parts, but the visuals were really good imho.

Took my mom to see this film on mothers day and loved it. It had a much better plot than I ever gave it credit for. And the cast was also excellent except for one person who I didn't expect to have a problem with but... oh Lord forgive me guys, as I can't believe I'm typing this even as I'm typing it but... somehow Natalie Portman didn't fit her role in this movie to me?

And I say that as one of her biggest fans. Ever since 'Leon : The Professional' she's been one of my favorite actresses, if not my very favorite. And during the trailers before Thor started they showed the new Luc Besson movie 'Columbiana' and I thought, "hey if you're going to film a movie about a chick who saw her parents murdered and seeks revenge... why the hell not make it about Mathilda and use Natalie Portman? We've all been dying for that movie to come out. I mean, Mathilda saw her parents murdered too"...

But anyways, I really liked Thor... even more than I had anticipated. I went expecting to see a good action movie, but it was even better than that IMO. Visuals were incredible. The weak spot in the movie to me was unfortunately Portman. Not that she did a bad acting job, it's not that at all. Part of it was, I just don't see her as an astronomy geek. That was a little hard for me to swallow. But the even bigger problem was, Thor is a God, and Gods don't fall in love with toothpicks!

And I think Natalie is as hot as they come, she is definately my type in every way. But a God needs a woman who's going to give him a big, strong, Godly son. He needs him a woman with 'birthing hips' to bring his successor into this 'realm'! ;)

Thors mother for instance was cast perfectly. Rene Russo is beautiful, yet strong and voluptuous... you could see her giving birth to a God. Natalie... she's too petite to attract the attention of a God. Thor would leave her to mortal men like myself, and I would be forever greatful to him for it! :D

So that was the biggest hole in the movie for me. That and his band of friends were played rather cartoony at times. LOVED the gate keeper, he was badass! And no one could have played Odin better than Anthony. I swear that man is the most versitile actor on the planet. I mean as old and feable as he was in his last movie, 'The Rite', he was very believable as a strong, formidable God in Thor.

I also loved the cameo by Hawkeye, and the reference to 'Iron Man' when the Guardian was sent to earth by Loki and Agent Coulson asks, "Is that one of Starks"? LOL, I had a good belly laugh at that one!

I very much recommend this movie to anyone, expecially comic enthusiasts!

lol outlaw, you are a great guy, but i thought this movie wasnt all that impressive, just reminded me of another spiderman movie. I have never been big into thor, but my buddy was, and he claimed most of the story line was completely off. I wasnt impressed with the acting, sure it was funny at times. but the acting was not where it should have been. the best part IMO was the cameo for hawkeye... i know i will catch hell for that, but i just didnt find this movie anyway of amusing. the action sequences were nice, the graphics were amazing, but it just wasnt up to par with what i thought it could have been capable of. :( let the bashing on me begin

Rene Russo voluptuous???? Really?? What you smoking player? LOL

Haven't seen thor... yet.... will agree or disagree after i see it:D

Eh... I'd give it a C. It just felt like it had something missing, like waiting for something to happen that never actually occurred.

Wait till you see her in Thor. They make her look pretty well rounded in this movie. As compared to Natalie, she looks like a damn cow!

It's all about perspective. Anthony is a feable old man, but they make him look pretty Godly himself. But Portman... they didn't do anything to make her appear any different. She's her same skinny old self. Not that I'm complaining, like I said I dig her just the way she is.

But I can't see Thor getting as bent outa shape as he did in the movie over her. But hey that's just my interpretation, who knows what a REAL God may or may not be into?

I liked it, but I went into it expecting it to be the most meh of The Avengers set ups. Really, that's what it was. People will know who Loki is when he returns and we saw Hawkeye and a Cosmic Cube.

Thor has always been one of the polarizing characters from the Marvel Universe. Either he is loved, hated, or tolerated when not in stand alone form. I have a buddy that never read the stand alone stuff because it was 'too weird' but has no issues with him when grouped up.

I don't see him being able to hold films like Iron Man and Captain America could/can. I never expected them to follow his origin of getting put into Donald Blake without memories of being a God. Way too similar too Captain America's origin, who in the Marvel Universe is far more loved and important. Feeble guy, something happens, and bam super hero.

As for Jane (Natalie Portman) I'm biased. I'd probably watch a movie of her reading a phone book and like it. They couldn't do how they originally met since Thor was never Blake, so they hashed something together. Could have been a hell of a lot worse.

i liked it.. B+

but i agree there was something missing... the build up to the love was not really there.. the thing that binds the 2. Natalie's character was not strong or built up. she was there... but nothing the earned the love for him to want to find a way back to her.

Natalie's charater was more lust than love in the movie. As far as her looks go in the movie. Shes playing an astro nerd and how many astro nerds do you see looking like strippers? WE all know when we get a new charater movie they have to tell the story. So its going to be dry. I gave it a C- only because my wife was all googly eyes over thor with his shirt off.

Oh man that reminds me, we took my mom to go see this for Mothers Day, so it was my mom, dad, sister and I. When that scene came on with his walking through that room with his shirt off, as soon as they showed him my mom blurts out, "OH WOW"!!!

The whole theater started laughing. Good thing my dad isn't the jealous type! ;)
