You have to select the SBF file in the dialog box IIRC, then start

Steven: That didnt help. I'm still looking at RSD without being able to press the start button.
dhoffman, what dialog box is this?
The solution is easy. From rsdlite you have to select the actual sbf file. The rds lite software actually RUNS the sbf file. You'll see "---" select that, search for the actualy sbf file in the dialogue box. Select it. Then you should see the option to "start".
Let me know.
So I cannot charge it? When I started I had 50% battery. Am I in trouble?
You do need over 50% or it won't work. You only need about fifteen percent to run the sbf. That being said though you must be quick, being new does complicate that as well. If you know someone with an x you could obviously use theirs to charge you battery. or I have a bizarre method I found on this very forum to charge a dead battery in an emergency.
It will require some Macguyver like skills, luck, and a usb cord. I have personnaly done this like three four times. ( No I am not ******ed but stay up late flashing shit and kill the battery a lot.)
If you want to know how let me know.
The filename select field. Should be able to get the actual name of the file in a dialog box, select it and then Start is enabled. What OS is your pc on?
I will need to know what ur phone says when u connect it to the pc. Is the phone in bootloader mode?
Yeah, anyone heard from him lately? - Is there a problem with RSD and 64 bit Win7? I see the above, I stick with XP - wouldn't know I/O language but I remember plp having to download moto 64 bit drivers for it to recognize. More screen shots would be great -

I skyped with him last night. He got around this issue by tweaking the filename somehow. I don't understand what he did. Kids' brains are more functional I guess.
He's now on .340 and will wait for the rooted .396, fyi. So, he's ok.

Computer engineer here. Registered so I could post this and hopefully help a few of you guys out
I was running into the same problem, with Win7 x64, RSD Lite 4.6, latest drivers. Did some investigation into the error log and looks like I found a bug in their programming. Go into the directory you installed RSD Lite (for Win7 x64 the default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\RSD Lite\) and look for a file that starts with "FlashErrorLog". Open it, and if you see something like this:
Code:
Line: 865
ERROR: \\?\c:\SPRecovery_ESE81.sbfwtƒyo
I do. I love newbies and have a lot of feeling for them. I was once one and as scared as all blazes. If someone wasn't caring and patient with me, I wouldn't be where I am now in expertise. That's why I'm very patient and encouraging to newbies.
You see, I've made all the ignorant newbie mistakes. That's how I learned. No condemnation here for the newbie, just help.
Well you can't get anymore newb than me! Here's the deal - I got root on my htc wildfire using revolutionary.io Everything was fine and dandy. All was well, until I tried to flash the cyanogenmod 7 ROM. It seemed everything was going great (it was backing up the old rom etc) then it rebooted (well not really) I think it was stuck on a bootloop. Not knowing what to do, I pulled the battery and tried to boot it myself. Not Good! the furthest i got was the recovery stage which took me to a seemingly endless list of options lovingly supplied by Revolutionary. Unfortunately NONE of the options worked! Can you help!! It would be so cool if you could.
