OTA update is live (for real this time)

I have the same problem....hoping someone can help us....thanks...please help...

I pulled the battery and the phone booted fine but got a message stating that the update failed..... think the root is affecting the update? :(

I had the same problem on my Droid X, which ended up in Verizon replacing it (I was able to unroot in and remove all signs of it ever being rooted, before they took it back)

I was\am pretty certain that it was happening because I [accidentally] removed the Blockbuster app, after rooting my phone.
All of the stock apps\files need to be there, for the update to successfully go through. Unfreeze\reinstall any and ALL of the original bloatware. I would also unroot the phone before updating, but that's my personal preference.

Me too!.. and rooted

I was given an advice through the droid forum...

Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

multiupload.com/9OYF6X14F9
then
<Shabby> luis_100, once you have that new zip downloaded your gunna copy it to the root of your sd card
<Shabby> and rename it PG05IMG.zip
then
choose the #4 options in your phone ...install zip from sd card...

hopefully this help...

i am currently downloading the file...i will find out later if it works...

On rooted phone with custom rom, got a message saying there was no update.

unrooted and installed factory rom.

update now available and currently downloading.

Got update. Nothing seems better to me. 1 random reboot with wall plug in. Thanks for nothing verizon

+1

Weather widget location fix? My location is still incorrect, and after the update it seems to be worse. Seems my location keeps jumping based on either 3G or 4G signal and thats just having the phone on my desk.

This is lame. The only way to get a proper location on my weather widget is to use Beautiful Widgets and manually input my town. The HTC one doesn't recognize my 40,000 person town.

Immediately after the update the weather widget worked good, but two hours later, showed me in the same stupid city that's two hours away. Wtf. This update improved absolutely nothing for me.

Try a battery pull...

I pulled the battery, kept it out for three minutes, and then when it came back up, tried the HTC widget on 3G. Showed the right town. On Wifi, showed the wrong place. Went back to 3G, and it stayed on the wrong place. Then, before my eyes it changed between the wrong and right locations. Twice.

I'm going to give up and accept that with this phone I will never be able to use the HTC widget.

That's weird as it shows my little town of nobody quite easily. It does this on its own. If i wasnt at work I would try and help you and see if it could be fixed.

The funny thing is, in Google Maps, it shows the right town name and location, before the update it didn't. So GPS knows where I am, but the widget never gets it right. I don't understand at all.

Is there any fix for this? It doesn't make any sense.

I'm surprised so many are having issues. My phone works like a charm. Stock.....just some downloaded apps. No root.

No reboots. No probs with gps. Battery seems good. I'm At 50% on extended battery and have used my phone extensively today including the ota download and install.

The HTC Weather widget and clock weather widget are controlled by Google Location services, not GPS or VZW Location services. I've been battling this issue with HTC and Verizon for at least 4 weeks now, even opened a ticket with HTC. They said it would be resolved in this update, which sadly it didn't, at least for my device...

Have 2 Tbolts. Around Noon Pacific I polled OTA and received the update. Update ran for about 1 hour then both phones re-booted on their own. After re-boot OTA is gone! I know because after update installed the 'status' would reflect the update version, status 'ok', etc. After the auto-reboot the status is back to the status screen containing no versions or other information other than Source = "Verizon Wireless". The status that came out of the box

Check your software under "About Phone". Mine also does not show under "Software Update - Status" but when I checked the software under "About Phone" the newer version is listed.

And I also had that random reboot.

Unfortunatley the random reboot is a problem that many who used the leaked version of this update have been complaining about. It was thought to be the reason that this update was delayed but it seems that the issue was not fixed.

Thanks for response... but March 1st seems to be the date phone launched with? If not what was date or original fw device shipped with? I don't remember, did not think to check.

I had to do the 1x thing to get the update 3g and lte kept giving the error message.

Phoenix

I can say NO benefit in battery and actually have hesitations now on sense that i didnt have before.

Oh well I got it

Easy cowboy,

Mine says the same thing but look at your build number and baseband and it should match this which mine does.

Downloading currently on (very weak) 3G signal in upstate NY. About 2/3 done at the moment, so we'll see how quickly it goes through with barely 1 bar of 3G.

keeping my fingers crossed...
