OTA update is live (for real this time)

BTW, been in 3G all afternoon, both phones seem stable after update. Need to head into office for 4G test. Though 4G is not important, nice, but HTC T-Bolt was the phone I wanted this year. Had Incredible 1 prior year, made me HTC follower for now. Great phones, T-Bolt best.

If interested... OTA downloaded, then 1 re-boot. This is where I was able to read the status with the fw update. That is when phone ran about 1 hour. Then the surprise re-boot happened about 1 hour later. So really only had 2 re-boots. No more the last 6 hours.

Download took about 5 minutes... install another 2-3 minutes...

Gps locks on quick... I will try out the 3g/4lte tomorrow... so far so good..

In Fort Worth, Tx

Downloading currently on (very weak) 3G signal in upstate NY. About 2/3 done at the moment, so we'll see how quickly it goes through with barely 1 bar of 3G.

keeping my fingers crossed...

Update: So far, so good. Did have to restart my phone (but that was unrelated) after download. once restarted, install went smooth, restarted within a few minutes, no issues since. However, I have poor signal at home, so the test will start tomorrow when I get up and running at work again. Never had 4G so that part is unaffected for me, but will test the rest.

(Granted, I never had GPS locking issues to start with, not sure what I'll notice there...messaging...I use Go SMS anyway, and everything looks the same there so far, so meh...but I has the update. go me.)

Was all on 1 bar of 3G, but went fine. Download took approx 15 mins on that horrible signal, installation a total of maybe 5.

I was given an advice through the droid forum...

Thanks to shady in forum...

By the way...this is from rooted tb..

Wow, I just went to check for new software for the hell of it and BAM prompt came up to download new software. I was never notified of a new update or even knew until I read this forum, but the firmware is downloading as we speak, I will keep you updated.

I'm in Los Angeles, still waiting for an update....

no big deal. It'll get here when it gets here.

Downloaded and installed yesterday afternoon with no problems. Fast download on 4G of under 1 minute, then about 3 reboots with a notification each time that the phone would close down and restart. No spontaneous reboot problems before or after the download.

Before the update, my GPS never got a lock in the house and was slow outside. After the update, I get an almost immediate fix in the house and it's very accurate. I'm in OKC and I've noticed that many of the posters in the Oklahoma, Texas area seem to be reporting improved GPS.

Stock unrooted TBolt.

Man, after reading all of the posts/replies, I don't even know if I want to do the update. I'm currently visiting family in NOVa where I have 4G, but only get 3G back where I live. I'm afraid......:(

Before this update, I didn't have problems with random reboots, gps, network, phone. After updating yesterday, my phone has rebooted itself approx. 10 times, multiple network hangs (where nothing using the network works and eventually times out) and had three attempted phone calls never connect and then, even though it says call has ended, the phone still shows that it is in a call requiring a reboot.

Two separate times, the phone gets stuck on 4g and won't allow me to change it to any other setting. Forcing another reboot.

So my final tally thus far: 10 random reboots and 5 regular reboots....in less than 24 hours.

I have the same GPS issue as before the update, i.e. it's showing my location as about 1500 feet away from where I am.

The odd thing is that if I turn on WiFi, it locks on exactly to where I am. If i'm in the back of my house it shows me on my rear deck, if I'm in the front, on my front porch. Very odd.

I clicked "Check New" under updates, and it says "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Check for Software Update under Settings when service is available". . . I'm on the 4G network, and service is available...

My wifi is not on and I'm still getting that message, but I suspect it's a rolling update. Anyone is SoCal get the update yet?

I'm in SOCAL and I keep getting, the below error.

Error

SERVICE UNAVAILABLE
Check for Software Update under
Settings when service is available

I am not an expert on these issues, but I would try just using the Standalone GPS Services in your Location Settings and turn off the VZW Location Services and the Google Location Services. Hope it helps.

I have this same exact problem. Only way to make this phone work is to have it charging. Call Verizon and have them send you a new phone. What I am having being sent now.

I am glad others are not having any.issues with this update but it is frustrating can't use your phone like it was intended . Funny thing is I defended this phone while others complained about problems and so on. Maybe I need to treat this phone like a dog lol.

About 20 minutes ago I did the update. GPS is WAY closer to my house now then before.

Shop savvy asked me to do it (I emailed them about the force closing a while ago) and test to see if that solved the problem. It's working flawlessly again.

So as of right now I am thrilled with the OTA, that could change shortly though.

When I go to check for the update, the box comes up and says "Software Update (then below) Checking for new Software available now"

then quickly the box disappears and nothing happens?

Any ideas?

Same here...

Me too. Same message as the guy you replied too for me also. I'm in San Diego. I'm not too worried though as I think I am going to skip this update (if I can). Can't believe how many folks are reporting problems with it.

Yeah it sounds like the rollout has all but stopped and a lot of TB's did not get the update...mine included. I'm guessing they pulled it because of all of the bugs that were meant to fix the original bugs. I'll take the occasional data drop when switching from 3g to 4G over some of the issues people are reporting! My phone has never randomly rebooted once since I've owned it. I'll wait until they can get it right.

Yeah, I'm not touching this update until it's pushed to my phone.
