Hi.

I have several more root questions that I would like to ask.

Nandroid Backups & Titanium Backup
I have created 1 nandroid backup, which was right after rooting my Droid X. My question is: I have uninstalled several apps, installed new ones and vice versa after making that backup. If I use Titanium to back up my current apps and decide to restore my backup, would I be able to restore the apps I had currently after going back to my restored backup? I hope my question made sense.

Custom ROMs & Bloatware
I have frozen several apps using TB. I plan on trying out custom ROMs. Would I need to unfreeze those apps before I attempt to flash a custom ROM?

Yes, you will be able to restore those apps

No you will not need to unfreeze those apps...you will be doing a data wipe when installing a ROM...so you will have to start fresh with your apps anyway...

O'k, question 1. Yes. If you have a backup of your phone, it will put everything back the way it was when you made that backup. If you added apps AFTER that backup you would need to backup all your apps with TiBu.

Should you need to flash your backup you would just have to restore your apps from the last TiBu you made of them and you're all good to go.

Question 2. No. You don't need to unfreeze anything to flash a rom. Or so I'm told. I have flashed mods without thawing anything but thats different from roms so you may want to verify this before proceeding.

Are there any differences/similarities between an SBF and a Maderstock?

Maderstock can only be used to restore from a FroYo rom to the stock FroYo setup. It cannot be used to downgrade from Gingerbread or a Gingerbread-based ROM.

The SBF installs the baseband, the /system file and the kernel. So it's a true replacement. I don't think Maderstock replaces your kernel or baseband, which is why it can't be used to downgrade from Gingerbread. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that, but it definitely can't be used to downgrade from Gingerbread. Just not positive that the kernel is the reason.

Also, Maderstock requires you to be able to get into Clockwork Recovery - the SBF, obviously, does not, so it will let you recover your phone from a problem.

in essence they accomplish the same thing...after an SBF or a Maderstcok (yes its actually spelt that way for some reason)....you're phone will be completely stock as it came out of the box...

Maderstcok requires that you be rooted because you flash it through Clockwork Recovery....

SBF requires a program called RSDLite that you install on your computer and then hook your phone up to the computer via the usb cable...

NOW...that being said...there is SOMETHING different between the two that goes beyond my current knowledge...and it only really became an issue when we first started getting the Gingerbread leaks for our phone...

to install the original GB leaks we had to go back to stock...well this can be accomplished either through an SBF or maderstcok flash...BUT those that originally tried using maderstcok were greeted with bootloops and had to SBF anyway...

so while both will return you to stock and both form and function...there is SOMETHING under the hood with a maderstcok that is not QUITE the same...not necessarily WRONG or broken though...

Also, for example, I had backed up 50 apps using TB and I currently have 100 apps. If I restored my TB apps, would I end up with only those 50 apps from TB?

Is a data wipe and a cache wipe the same thing as doing a factory reset?

You will end up with your current 100 apps as well as the 50 restored ones. Minus any that overlap, which will be replaced with their backed up versions. (So if you have App1.0 backed up and you have since installed App2.0, you will only have the backed up version if you restore it)

Data & Cache Wipe

Is a data wipe and a cache wipe the same thing as doing a factory reset?

Yes. As long as you're on stock.
