Root Phone stuck on white htc evo screen and cant get to the system boot?

my phone is stuck on the white screen and i cant use the volume button and the power button it just vibrates three times and stays black. what do i do? its been on the white screen for like ten minutes now. i think it didnt install the ROM fully. any help is welcom. thanks
 
reboot into recovery, then restore the nandroid you made (hopefully you made a nandroid) or go to reboot

Glad you got it working :). For the record, when you get stuck, and need to do a battery pull, you only need to wait a few seconds between when it shuts off and when you turn it back on while pressing volume down. You don't need to wait 10 minutes :).

problem was that u were pressing volume buttom UP with the lock button, which puts the phone into a diagnostics mode and doesnt do anything (learned that like 2 days ago =p, forgot from who, but thx who ever that was lol.)

the right was is to press lock button + volume button DOWN to put it into recovery mode :D
 
for the life of me, i cant get past the boot menu and red triangle.. held down and power and got into recovery mode, but it just goes back to the red triangle when i reboot.. need help bad.

What exactly were you doing? Are you not able to boot up normally either? I take it you have S-OFF and have been to recovery before? At the moment, you don't have a recovery image. There are a number of ways that can happen. As long as you have S-OFF, you can flash a recovery image from hboot with a PC36IMG.zip. You can get the recovery of your choice from the link in my sig. Just follow the instructions in that thread. What recovery did you have before? If you're unable to boot up, we'll need a little more information once you have recovery so that you can get everything working again.

really new to this, wanted to root my phone so i went with the basically one click unrevoked3. it will not boot up normally, it just stays at the white htc evo screen. i have tried PC36IMG.zip but the radio_v2 one failed so the update was not installed. not sure which radio version i have and not sure how to check seeing as how phone wont get past the boot screen.. but i will definitelyfollow your advice and see what i can come up with.

ok so i just flashed a new ROM (Koni Elite III) and so far its gotten past the boot menu. should be good, hopefully...

Okay, let's start with this:

1) What version of unrevoked did you use?
2) Turn the phone off, then turn it back on while pressing and holding volume down. That will take you to hboot. What is your hboot version? (e.g. 0.97, 2.02, 2.10, etc.)
3) Do you have S-ON or S-OFF?
4) What is your baseband radio version? It will say in hboot.

Considering you're at this point, you probably never got a custom recovery to begin with, but that doesn't mean you don't have S-OFF. As long as you can get to hboot (which I'm sure you can) you'll be fine.

Okay, need some help. here is the background on my problem. I just bought this phone like this. I can boot into HBOOT but can go no where else. It sticks on the white boot screen. I have no idea what they used to root this phone. Here is the information that you requested from the other guy:

1. no idea what they used to root with
2. HBOOT: 0.93.0000
3. SHIP S-OFF
4. 2.15.00.07.28
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac

Also says no image or wrong image. I downloaded Recovery 3.70 from your media fire but I think that might have been the wrong one. Any advise? I would appreciate the input!!

May I also add that when I try and boot into recovery from HBOOT it will not do it and it vibrates 5 times and does nothing.
 
ok so first lets get you into recovery.
1. download amon ra 2.3 (the preferred recovery) from here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html.
2. erase the "_ra2.3_" part of the name so that it is named PC36IMG. if you are using windows (it hides extensions) make sure not to add ".zip" to the name or it will look like PC36IMG.zip.zip.
3. xfer the file over to the root (no folder) of your sd card. this is the difficult part because you cannot connect your phone to the computer. if you have a card reader, you can transfer the file over that way.
4.go into hboot and it should automatically scan for the file and then press vol up to update.

now you should have a custom recovery and from there you have access to your sd card and you can just dowload a custom rom, xfer to your card and flash it from recovery.

That doesn't work. I then select update and then reboot and then it shuts off, reboots to the white screen and then goes black and vibrates 5 times while still pitch black. I'm about to pull my hair out.
 
are you naming it correctly? so when you go to hboot and it scans for it, afterward does it automatically reboots? or do you select reboot?

I took the original file name and just deleted the _ra2.3_ and it was PC36IMG.zip. I am uploading a video to show. The video shows a reboot but after i run the PC36IMG.zip if i go to update and then choose no to reboot and then to go recovery it does the same thing. Video will be done in a minute.
 
no worries. i understand the frustration. ok you may now have a recovery from the looks of things. try going back to hboot and select recovery. it should bring you to the white htc splash screen. it may take a few seconds to a few minutes.

When I go into recovery it goes to the white splash screen, then it goes to a black screen and vibrates 5 times and does nothing. It's like it shuts off.

I have downloaded several times. I've downloaded different versions, I've renamed it with caps and without. I have no idea.

The green LED indicator light is also blinking
 
well the problem with unrooting is that you have to flash the s-on tool and that requires that you have a custom recovery. are you using a mac or pc?
