Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

I used to work for Kmart and we would get the sale ads in store almost 2 months in advance, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this.

Exactly, I have worked retail for years before I got into my family business practice and kmart was one of the companies I worked for. Anyway yeah, these adds are printed well in advance just sitting in boxes collecting dust waiting for that week to come around. In general though if something spectacular was gonna go down there would always be a seperate fedex or ups shipment of promotional materials relating to the event.

Is Sprint known to stack releases on a weekend?

Pretty sure the MotoXprt is releasing June 5.

If I remember right, there was something else put out the same weekend of the Pre, some texting phone that Sprint already had 20 of, but I can't point you to any place to confirm that other than my brain (and no one really wants to know what goes on in there)

Just my thinking but I would suspect that Sprint may want to release the Evo 3D and the Evo View at the same time. Especially considering they announced them at the same time and Best Buy is starting to Sell the HTC Flyer today which is essentially the same tablet just the wifi only version.

I called a couple of corporate stores today (well, closer to 8, but who's counting?), and while none of them would say that they are doing preorders, the first one I called said that in their meeting this morning, that they should expect it "sooner than they think." Wish that actually meant something, but...meh.

I asked a couple about training, and they all denied having had any yet, but one told me that they typically have it a week or so before the phone is out.

So now, we've got a couple anticipated launch dates, that are _ROUGHLY_ confirmed:

Saturday, June 4th
and
Saturday, June 11th.

It is my feeling that because June 4th was Radioshack's Rough Launch date, Sprint may have pushed it back a week to the 11th, which is okay. So as of now, I'd say to expect and anticipate the 11th, but if it is released the 4th, then all the better.

Also, if that rep said that training usually takes place about one week before the phone is out, then I would suggest calling stores on:

the weekend of May 27th-31st (Memorial Day Weekend)
the tuesday following
and then again on Thursday, JUST to make sure ;)

If the phone is not launched on the 4th, spam the store with cal- I mean call once many of the surrounding stores. But get your friends to do it too.

Hmmm - I dunno know about spamming stores with calls.

How is that polite to the reps trying to help people buy and activate phones that are already on the shelves and right for them?

I'd advise against it.

Why piss off the reps that are expected to be nice to people wanting the 3vo?

My opinion.

+1

I would agree against the spamming, excepting those whom have dropped $50 on a gift card for that phone. Those folks I believe have every right to inquire as to a release date. After all, that money goes toward paying the wages of Sprint employees. The actual phone purchase, with contract or without, keeps Sprint workers employed.

Hey - $50 or the intent to buy gives anyone the right to inquire at any time.

I'm just saying inquiring does not equal spamming. Spending $50 doesn't put anyone above common courtesy - hope that doesn't come across disrespectfully, just my opinion on this.

PS - btw, unless I'm mistaken, Thunderbolt store spamming just led to the reps passing out all sorts of dates, maybe out of retaliation. Maybe careful of unintended consequences, too. ;)

Hopefully we will hear something official next week; if not then perhaps the phone will not be released until july ? It really is an unusual release esp for a flagship phone. Normally more specifics are known this close to release date (if the actual release is June 4th or June 11th). I wonder if reviewers already have the phone under NDA.

Ah, just a joke my good man. I have no intentions of doing so. Notice I changed mid-sentence? Anyway, Just disregard the bottom part of that post, and you have a fairly decent plan.

I think they usually get them about a week or so in advance, so I would expect that in the next couple weeks too, but we won't know about it

Just to add a couple new things to the release date rumors:

1. The Nexus S launched on May 8th, so if Sprint is trying to prevent people from "trading up" to the Evo 3D, they may wait until the 10th to launch (I'm pretty sure it's going to launch on a Friday like all of Sprint's flagship devices).

2. When I preordered at Best Buy Mobile, they gave me the May brochure which is effective from 4/24/11-5/21/11. Tomorrow we should see a new brochure, and if the Evo 3D is to launch in June, I would expect to see it featured in the June brochure.

3. I'm also still hopeful for a tie-in with their Nascar Cup or whatever it is

That makes a lot of sense to me....

I also think that a lot of the hush-hush so far has been because of agreements between Sprint with other manufacturers that Sprint can't actively advertise an upcoming phone until xx days after current phone has been for sale. Especially when the upcoming phone is a flagship phone.

I'm starting to lean toward a 2nd week of June launch. June 10 or 11 seems pretty good.

Interesting point about the flagship advertisting, I didn't think of that. It does seem true when I think about it, because Sprint seems to begin heavy advertising on their phones after they launch. Even last year with the Evo, we saw a huge marketing push a few weeks after the phone launched.

At this point, I'd say that the first or second week of June are our best options; Sprint could surprise us all and announce a June 3rd (Friday) or June 4th (One "year" anniversary) date this weekend still. If not, I'm thinking that June 10th (or 11th) is where we're looking, but I'm guessing June 10th since it's a Friday. As long as it's the first two weeks of June I'm fine, although I'd of course prefer the June 3rd/4th release date.
