Root ultimate ascend customization guide.

From what I've read, you can use the free version to get the ROMs from Monday through Friday, you need the paid version to get them on the weekends. I could be wrong, though.

i tried on tuesday. it told me to pay for the service. i will try later though9 i pulled rommanager off my phone after that sneaky trick.

Wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who helps out here, and all the folks who do development work

Awesome info and CM7 is rockin' my Ascend
:D

This is the (freaking awesome) thread I keep having to find (though I finally made an "Android" folder in my bookmarks and put it there this time.) It should definitely be stickied.

Ok so I follow everything typed in the guide to install cm7 but once I reboot my ascend it stays on the Boot Screen ive been trying for the last couple of days to get it working im using the CWMod from icarus but still nothing can anyone give me some help idk if anyone has had this happen but I havent found anyone saying they have... Anyone have ideas?

INSTALLING CLOCKWORKMOD (CWM)

Download the cwm.zip---------> CWM Recovery.zip (Thanks to Jazzette for this from her icarus 1.1 guide)

make sure usb debugging is turned on (menu button, settings, applications, development, usb debugging)

boot your phone into debug mode (fastboot) press, in order, VOLUME ROCKER DOWN+END (HANG UP)+ POWER. your phone will stay at the huawei screen. attach to pc using usb cord.

open the cwm.zip and extract the files
open the cwm folder
open the following files (you may see the dos box open briefly, this shows it worked all file are labeled according to os, choose for your os)

adb
fastboot
install recovery

unplug your phone from the pc and remove the battery for ten seconds.

boot to cwm VOLUME ROCKER UP+CALL BUTTON+POWER

you should see a black screen with green text. you now have cwm
What exactly are we supposed to extract cwm to? The phone? I booted it as instructed, and connected to my computer, but the computer can't install drivers with it in dubug mode, so it doesn't recognize the device as being connected. I'm stuck. Please help. :(

If you are installing CM6/7 there is no need to do the fastboot method for CWM. Just download Rom Manager from the market and install CWM from it.

Are you sure it works? A lot of the sources I've read from recommend the way Toke described, specifically saying NOT to use the one on ROM manager.

This is a really good collection of guides. The only thing I suggest is removing the instructions to fix permissions after installing CM7. That'll only screw things up and there's no point.

Thanks for the guides.

hey im having trouble with my phone i got a UIM sign and i tried to do a hard reset and it just kept my phone at the huawei screen

You got a UIM error on CM7??? (Going off the info under your name) If this somehow happened, you need to flash the stock rom and start from scratch.

I aint even heard of uim off of cm7.. just TOEjam lol.. and the only word of advice i have is learn how to fastboot... go to stock.. its three buttons and a batch file lol (.bat) its easy.. just read a bit before you do it.. and yes i know i quoted the wrong person lol

You have rom manager correct? That is how you initially flashed it right? If so, go back into it and flash clockworkmod recovery again, first tab.
