Root 596 Now available thru TBH app

because this is the first official build?...all the other builds were leaks that were never intended to see the light of day...there was no support for the previous builds to collect errors...i agree its a pretty big thing to let slip through...but there are always bugs that get through...
at least now there would be recourse, if one were so inclined... After the official release is pretty much over, you could start complaining to verizon that your phone settings don't work, they, in turn MIGHT let moto know and (a very slight maybe) it will get patched.

So far its only changing back if I reboot. I have no explanation as to why just posting my results with 596 so far. Didn't think I would be called a liar by a guide here in the X forum though.

yeah that is a little unnecessary

of course

I can also confirm that if I go in and change my camera to 8MP and then forceclose it goes back to widescreen. I am on the deodexed version.

took me 22 minutes from stock, unrooted FroYo to .596, including download time and time to transfer the files to my SD card. Awesome speed, lol.
And, for the first time in a while, there was no resetting of the phone, activation, etc needed. (Did NOT use the update.zip so I could let you know if it's needed or not)
Will inform you all if I get the re-occurring sync icon, but it looks good so far.

I didn't call anyone a liar. Apologies if it was taken that way. I think it'll prove out to have nit berm fixed.

Dont know why it's different for you than everyone else.

Has anyone tried to change boot animations yet? I think I like the blue ones better than stock red...
Blue boot logo works, boot ani works (.595 versions)

Question for you guys. If my phone shows the following info, can I either receive the OTA of GB or use the .596 from the TBH app without SBF'ing?. I originally was running Apex 1.4 but used a Nandroid backup and did a factory reset to supposedly get myself back to stock:

System version: Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US
Baseband version: BP_C_01.09.07P
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-g55626e1w30471@il93lnxdroid08#1

worst case, you'd have to SBF if it fails

I understand that, but like to know before trying. Worst case, no one else reports back having tried this and I have to do it first. No problem for me, just working on my time management :)

same with me. im downloading it now and hopefully will have enough time to install it over Zombiestomped. luckily and SBF on linux takes like 5 minutes so if i have to, its not too bad

I'm at 38% now. Going on an hour to get that far. Boy is the TBH server overloaded right now....lol. But as they say, patients is a virtue.

EDIT: I just thought of something. What effect is this gonna have on my phone running a home replacement app and my theme? I'm assuming, like all the other releases, it's going to over write my theme back to stock blur. No problem there. But should I uninstall my home replacement app before I flash this?

You should definitely have downloaded it from the mirror links in P3s original thread. Much faster. Slow internet where I am and only took twenty minutes. Tbh app probably uses a private server so getting slammed is more likely to happen. The mirrors hosted on huge servers dedicated to massive downloading is a lot more efficient.

And you shouldn't have to remove your home replacement but yes any theme you have will be gone.

Any word on successfully installing over zombie??

your boot animation is unaffected by flashing ROMS...so if you had it changed before...it should have kept it the same when you upgraded...for instance...mine is still the Purple Eye that i made..

So I am stock Froyo unrooted with the 07p baseband. Which method should I use? The 2 files? How do I access stock bootloader?

The first thing you need to do is root your DX with z4root. Then install Droid 2 Bootstrap. Download the files you need, go into d2 bootstrap and hit "bootstrap recovery" then hit "reboot recovery". Once in recovery mode scroll down to "install zip from sd card" then select "choose zip file". Flash file one then file two. DO NOT LEAVE RECOVERY TILL YOU FLASH BOTH FILES!

EDIT: Which Froyo are you running? You say you have the .07 baseband so are you still on Froyo 2.3.25? Or 15....I forget. You need to be running 2.3.340 before you begin.

Dammit. I got to 55% and something went wrong with my Wifi and dropped the download. So now it's on to grabbing it from the link on the web.

I am 2.3.340. Was hoping to stay unrooted and use stock bootloader

Well if you don't want to root and you are not interested in running roms and themes then I would just get the OTA on your phone. But keep in mind if you go this route and want to root, rom, or theme in the future you will be unable to.

I doubt that will be the case..... I would be surprised if the OTA stock GB isn't rootable at some point. Also, worst case is one could always SBF back to stock froyo, root, then install a rooted/deodexed version of .596.

Oh yeah I know. That's my fault. I should have been more clear and stated he won't be able to root, etc right now if he goes with the OTA.
