3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

Like I said the 3D is not for me. I love the specs but 3D is a gimmick to me and will congest the phone and eventually lead to lag etc. I'm passing on the 3D. Gonna wait a while besides I can't complain about my current Evo. Gonna see what's in store later on down the line. Still interested in how everyone else likes the 3D when it comes out. I hope it is as good as everyone is expecting as well.

If the evo 3d isn't for you then thats fine my ultimate point is whats the point of waiting and waiting and waiting if whatever you decide to get is gonna be outdated in a few months anyway? But like you said, your evo is just fine for you.

It' not about waiting and waiting. For me it's about waiting for a phone with similar specs minus the 3D stuff on Sprint. I'm not interested in that technology. Not even tv's. It makes sense to me because I don't wanna pay for a phone that I'm not gonna be happy with in the end.

3D congesting the phone and leading to lag is made up.

Best get what you like, that's rule one with Android - but no need to spread misinformation.

That's like saying my Evo doesnt lag when watching HD vids recorded by it. It stutters and lags. Not to mention I didn't say it would I said to me. I didn't say it was fact or proven. Fact is it' gonna take more CPU power to run and play 3D videos. Will dual core negate it? Possibly. Saying it's made up is yet to be seen.

But you have to be somewhat interested in the 3D EVo or you wouldn't take the time to be posting over here.

Why do you think you would be unhappy with the phone? It might not live up to the hype?

i don't find june 24th encouraging at all lol.
now pls.

I personally don't believe they would be so cruel to release it the day right after the rebate for new customers ends. That would be straight up mean. I do believe the 3vo and View 4G will have close release dates, but they don't have to be the same. I'm expecting the 3D to come out before the View because the rebates only apply to smartphones not tablets.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course, and here's mine:

You settled for a much lesser phone.

I'll give you the fact that AOSP is nice. But you can have that (or extremely close to that) on any fully rootable device, which HTC is now promising. I've been running GB for a while now, and I love it.

You are incorrect that the Evo 3D doesn't utilize the dual core. Too much has already been written to debunk this, including several app developers deciding to stop the nonsense.

PenTile RGBG reduces the sharpness of whatever screen its utilized on, so your WVGA screen has the clarity of something much less. This is actually proven mathematically, not so much my opinion.

No SD card. No notification light.

So.... not trying to beat down the Nexus S here, but when you say, "The benefits of owning google's flagship device out weighs anything the EVO 3D has to offer," I have to strongly disagree.

You can disagree that's fine but you didn't tell me how I was wrong? You're telling me the HTC EVO 3D screen is better than the Nexus S? Did i read that correctly?

no sd card? I have 16 gb INTERNAL MEMORY! I don't need an SD Card. and If i phone gets full (which i couldnt even fill 4gb) then i'll drop all my files on my pc and start all over. NO extra money spent

No notification light? There's plenty of apps that fix this.

AOSP ROM's have A LOT OF BUGS and don't have everything 100% working.

I've ran sense 3.0, gb, and a wide rang of other ROMS and you do not get 100% out of it. YOu ALWAYS have to sacrafice something like ummmmm Screen brightness being stuck on full blast with no current fix.

As far for sense most people use launchers that give you more anyways.

So you're left with a dual core 3d phone. hollywood and TV sales have already shown 3d technology was not what they thought it would be.

So buying this EVO 3D outweights

  • owning google's flagship device
  • Pure Android at it's best
  • NO bloatware/crapware
  • Bettery battery life
  • First to get Google Updates
  • built in wifi tethering FREE
  • Bettery Screen

Like you said everyone has their opinions and I went as far as pre ordering an EVO but i'm glad it's taken a long time to come out because running AOSP on my phone even though it has it's bugs, made me come to the conclusion that the Nexus S is the phone for me! You can brag about what you want but the EVO 3D will be out done just a few months after it's release by another phone. At least with Nexus our phone will always be running the latest google software. While I'm eating my Ice Cream later this year, you'll still be on GB looking for a ROM with the least bugs to flash so you can have what the nexus has stock.

I was very interested but the more and more I think about it I dont want or have any need for 3D. Sure I don't have to use it but I dont even want it on there taking up space or something going wrong with it. Plus the more I look at it I dont like the dedicated camera button as well. It looks like a sweet phone but just not for me.

The EVO 3d is dual core and has a 540 x 960 and better battery, that alone should be enough to prove that it's better than the Nexus. I don't even see how you could possibly compare, you have an inferior phone (not a bad one). Evidence backs it up, my statement is not based on opinion alone like yours clearly is.

EDIT: I might have come off a little more aggressive than I intended too and sorry if it came across that way, I'm really not one to come on forums to rag on others, that being said I appreciate your views on the Nexus S but it still won't convince me to pick it over the 3vo. No harm done, it's all Android.

Inferior or superior apply only subjectively.

If spec-numbers was the only criterion we could all choose the same phone.

No need to rag on others choices, this is Android where choice is good.

Please move on.

No offense, cyaiphone, but why are you even still posting on here? The Nexus S 4G is a fine phone, there is no doubt about that, and you've already made up your mind to get it, as it's the best choice for you.

These are the EVO3D forums, if we wanted to read about how great the Nexus S 4G is, or why some people prefer it over the 3D, we'd go to the Nexus S 4G section.

It was something like that... I'm gonna be grabbing an Evo 3D... or 3Vo.... whatever y'all are calling it. THE NEW EVO.

I think it was either the 8th or the 4th for the Evo. Can't recall. Google away!.... in the morning. Km tired.

you're absolutely right and i was just thinking the same thing. I know i'm in the wrong section. I was just countering the gentlemen's post. I hope everyone enjoys the E3D. As long as every Android user is happy with their phone Android will keep on growing!

Except he said it was HTC Phone. Only thing is he didnt mention if it as Android or Windows. I assume Android though because of us talking about the Evo 4g and 3D. I have no interest in the iPhone.

According to your post, he did not say it is an HTC phone, he said "you won't be disappointed". It's possible he said that because he assumed you'd automatically want an iPhone if it were available on Sprint. I mean, everyone wants an iPhone, right??

Pure speculation, of course.

Fwiw I don't experience this with my EVO4G. I record video on it all the time and when I play it for others they are impressed with the quality of the video and the phone's performance.

Heh, and I bet if you put an Apple sticker on an Android phone, had the body style that was similar, and renamed the Android Market to App Store, I bet a large majority of iPhone users wouldn't notice the difference. Well, until they couldn't download/run iPhone only apps.

Anyone receive this email this morning?

I received it today. I'm confident that it came from the notification request on the Evo3D page instead of my account contact, because they don't have this email address.
