Eris to v2.x, when?

I am a bit OCD when it comes to updates of any kind, some examples being drivers and all that jazz from Windows Update, antivirus, and other security related programs for the computer to the software upgrades on the car I drive. So my phone should be no different.

Some people on here aren't "geeks" (which itself is a subjective term and varies from person to person as to what degree you need to be enthusiastic about something to be considered one) which is fine, but others on here are subscribed to several Android news sites and their news feeds and are "enhusiasts" or gadgets like phones. Most people don't even know Android isn't limited to just phones anymore.

So it isn't gonna change my love for all things Android, or just phones in general, but it sucks having people rag on you for waiting on an update. It's no different than camping for New Moon tickets, or Harry Potter books, except we don't have an official release date.

And given that some of us check this site on our phones, we can technically be on here 24/7, just popping in from time to time. I'm guilty of most of the things I mentioned above. Minus the Twilight/Harry Potter thing, of course. ;)

Yes - I agree about it sucking to be ragged about things on forums... but in this case I really think you have more company among those who are waiting for updates, etc., than you have annoying people raggng you! Let's enjoy the whole experience... it never looks to me as though those raggers (is that a new word?) are having all that much fun! ;) (...I could be wrong... they may be having a lot of fun - ragging!)

I just don't understand why those "raggers" come here to say anything anyways. Shouldn't they be out having fun with their busy life?

I did some random searching on Google today and saw a new date being thrown around. February 1st. If it isn't updated on the 22nd, which seems likely, then we might see something on the first.

Search Google for the past week on eris 2.1 news and you may find something else now.

Question about the supposed update to 2.x: Can users skip it ? That is, tell it "No, don't update and don't ask me again" ? I know you can delay it but it will just keep asking... And no, I don't intend to do this, just wondering.

There are many people who NEVER update their PCs, update their roaming lists, update firmware on a DVD player, etc, etc and phones are the same for many... Of course, anyone with an Android phone is probably a bit above (on the geek scale) the average phone user and will get it as soon as possible.

You can by choosing to update later, but it'll stay available on the phone and I would imagine re-prompt to install.

Still wondering... It must be the carrier's decision to "force" the update which is 100% the opposite of what they used to do with standard phones. I know one model I had had (4) s/w revisions but only those who either went into a store and convinced them to do the update or had the ability to do it themselves (a data cable, the firmware, and necessary software to push it) ever ran a newer version.

Hmmmm very interesting. The first update was on 12/11/09, the second was 1/08/10 and the third is set for 1/22/10. If we take each of these dates and add them together we get 41 (11+8+22). If we take this number (41) and divide it by 4, because this will be the 4th OTA update, we get 10.25. Now add 2.1 (the OS version) to that 10.25 and we get 12.35. Now, February is also the second month of the year.....month 2 and OS 2.X.

So, by my calculations we will start to see 2.1 roll out on 2/12 @ 0:35 in the morning.

Well, all that useless garbage and the fact that every other OTA has been on a Friday and 2/12 is mid month. :D

I have to say this is by far the most logical explanation I have seen yet.

It simply has to be true!
