Help reset phone after 2.3 update

I'm trying to factory reset my phone. The two options known, menu>settings>privacy>reset does not exist after the 2.3 update. The turn off, hold volume down button method does not work either.

any suggestions?

Main reason I am doing it is cause of the android.process.acore error. Ever since I updated, I can not open my contacts, just says loading.

to get to hboot(bootloader) go to phone setiings/applications/uncheck fast boot. now you can power off then press and hold power+vol down to get tto hboot.
