Android 2.3.4 for Samsung Galaxy Ace !

Does anyone have an ideas why since upgrading to this I can only send texts with packet data off?
Anyone else having this problem and any ideas what could be causing it?

Yeah that was a bug in both 2.3.3 and VillainROM and is still there, otherwise there are no bugs..

Lol dude there's a lot of difference in performance, i also tried antutu and it gave me 1342 whle earlier it was 800 or something...
Also someone on xda got 70.3 fps on neocore..
Plus the battery life is just awesome now.. If you dont see much of a change, then try re-flashing

i don't know about the battery life since i flashed yesterday, and ok the benchmarks got better but i never use my mobile phone for benchmarks, it's like those car guys who think they're cool because they've got a 1 million hp car but it weighs 10000 tons... my phone doesn't feel faster, the homescreen transitions still sometimes feel choppy even without live wallpaper, live wallpapers are still unusable. instead of a performance boost that i don't see i'd rather have some more stability/consistency like:
-copy&paste works the same everywhere (as long as it makes sense)
-fluid homescreen transitions. i know this is kinda silly but if it fails to do basic things i really get pissed off, and i'm quite sure this is not a hardware but a software problem.
-no lag when i want to unlock my screen. it's a phone, it should be ready to use instantly. even my old nokia could do that, and i think it didn't have a gpu or whatever
-who thought of squeezing in the stupid notification when my battery is fully charged? I SLEEP DURING THE NIGHT. sometimes i really feel like the guys who develope these things just think: "what's the most annoying thing we could implement? make noise during the night, and it won't be possible to disable in the settings! now let's have another shot of vodka"

BTW: i know this looks a bit like a rant but i generally like my ace and android, but some things, i mean come on? i feel like those comanies don't have any connection to real life.
 
Hmm.. buddy i think you need to re-flash, (and if you root, use battery calibration), because my phone is much faster than it was on VillianROM.
To your other complains, i'd say i prefer these small not-so-important bugs than improper gps and sleep of death..
Screen lag is there in any gb ROM for Ace right now, and that is the ROM's fault, no need for gpu for that :P
IF you chose you can switch back, but i'm staying on it.
 
i know that the unlock lag is the roms fault. it's just that the unlock lag hasn't been there before so they know how to make a rom that doesn't have that lag, so i hoped the bug which i find really really annoying wouldn't survive and get a quick fix. where do you see a performance boost other than in benchmarks? do i have to play angry birds now? :D and about reflashing, i also got a score well over 1000 in quadrant, so i guess the flashing went well? i probably won't reflash and just wait until there's the new villainrom with 2.3.4
 
yeah i feel aktifits point on the simple things working fluidly,

i luv my ace and my android tablet...... but sometimes i do feel the devices with android get pushed out too soon with bugs and glitches, as for example., if i bought a calculator that didnt calculate.....i would want a refund,

what im saying is theres too many company's releasing products that arnt running 100% "example" scroll tablet.....first 20,00 sold with android market before they realized the android market doesnt work on it., they had to re-do and exchange everyones scroll to come with storage options app installer.

^how could they not know that? they never thought to check such a vital feature?

ps. im not wailing on android......i am an android and i am the future LOL!

that's also the reason why i only use free and open source software, same or even better quality. i really wonder why it is like that though...
 
Flashed no problem so far. messagable, WIFI , fast unlock , browsing than ever. Originally my ace has asian FW, I risked this update. Will update if any problem arises.

Yes you can use this ROM without any problem..
@soudy buddy there was a 1 sec delay earlier and now its 2 seconds, you peoplw are overeacting a bit too much about 1 more second :-|

Quadrant isnt bugfy i think, although 1230 seems to be an extraordinary score, but just look at nexus one before froyo it was like 600 or something after froyo its more than 1500 or so.. And also Galaxy S , with the 2.3.4 now has 1700 quadrant score.. I believe that samsung are actually working on their phones now.. I'm pretty sure if quadrant was too buggy, almost every android related site would not use it as benchmark.. And biggest of all 2.3.4 has removed my angry birds rio lag :-P

and do the factory reset frist before doing this? thanks again^^
 
Hi guys here is my feedback for this 2.3.4 gingerbread firmware

The overall operation speed has increased and there's drastic difference in the battery back up now. Text is more sharp and crisp (may be they increased the resolution). I have not faced the "sleep of death" bug since last 3 days. The GUI is same. Keyboard has changed and its a lot better now. No crashes/force close since last 3days. Overall im happy thanks to punit for this post :)
 
I flashed with kph last night... Since then I hav encountered an write message as ' google maps has stopped working, force close?'
Has anyone else got the same?

Re-download google maps, this is not a ROM bug :)

No factory reset or unroot required, although if you have root, just backup all your data with Titanium Backup.(because the update wipes the data off the phone)

Agree with all above. WIFI connection is solid and stable compared with froyo
 
i really wonder how software can increase resolution, seriously ROFL :D. no SODs for me either but wifi sleep is buggy, sometimes wifi won't sleep at all, but maybe that's just my ace... battery consumption in idle mode seems to be much better but i can't really say i'm excited about this, it's just normal and expected. i'd say we're now in some kind of a beta phase instead of the alpha-like froyo we got when we first bought our ace.
 
Software can increase resolution.. Just root your phone and download lcd density software from market and just decrease the lcd density and you will see the magic ;-)
