Root Netflix?

Do I have to be rooted in order to run NETFLIX on my TB? Because I did download a new version of Netflix and it loads up but when I try to run a movie, it starts to load then just goes back to menu screen...can anyone help me with this?

It appears that it will only run on gingerbread ROM's that have been developed which you need root to run. I am running a Froyo ROM (Perfect Storm 1.5) and I have the same issue.

Here is some information on it here in Android Forums posts and there appears to be another apk over at XDA that you can find in post 20, but it didn't work for me.

Yep. Gotta be rooted and on a GB ROM to run Netflix at the moment. I don't know if this will always be the case but I'm guessing it will be until the TBolt is officially supported by Netflix.

funny thing is--i'm running a version of Netflix on my TB (GB ROM) and when i go to netflix.com & 'manage devices', my other devices and my "HTC Thunderbolt" show up. it's not even a false-name signed device apk that would fool netflix into thinking it's something like the OG Droid or Evo, Netflix recognizes it's a Thunderbolt :)

any day they want to release the official version is fine by me.

Yep...same thing here. It also sees my Samsung Galaxy Tab as a Samsung Nexus S. Unfortunately, my WiFi only tab doesn't play the video...just the audio :(

Watched "Clerks" on my TBolt this past Sunday. I love that movie :D
