Root CM7 and the Original DX - X2 next?

So, now that there's a build of Cyanogenic Mod for the Droid X, can anyone speak with some authority or quality guesswork on what this means for us in the X2 crowd now?

It seems like no one is even attempting to work on this phone. I hate to sound like a negative Ned....I hope for your sake they are!

Yes - there may be someone out there, but it's definitely not on the top of anyone's priority list right now. :(

this is because the X2 was released too soon after the OGX, and its simply not enough of a hardware upgrade for it to ever be as popular as the X was...

when the X first launched...it was not only VZW's flagship phone, but it was arguably THE Android device on the market...everyone jumped all over it...lots left after getting frustrated with the bootloader...but lots stayed...

most of the devs that have upgraded from the X did not choose the X2 as their new phone...that is the major problem...although Team Black Hat plans to support the X2...but they don't have any X2's yet AFAIK...

Moto should have released the X2 NEXT year with killer hardware...

lol sorry for the sarcasm but it means the X2 crowd should probably not have joined that crowd. Especially since the DX1 has GB already.

Like Met said i saw P3 tweet that him and TBH were going to be supporting the DX2 but that has yet to be seen. Maybe something will drop soon for you guys though.

I understand, no harm no foul. Just means I have to lower my expectations in terms of what to expect and that's what I was wondering. It's always good to get an answer, even if it's not the one I'd love to hear. :D

Thanks for your insight guys!

CM7 and Custom ROMS are not what you should be waiting for at this point...

there are two things you want...and once you get them then Pandora's box can open...

1. Bootstrap
2. an SBF file for a rootable version of the OS

#1 is the MOST important...because it allows you to flash mods...#2 isn't really a requirement...but it will allow you to save your phone when you mess it up, which everyone inevitably does at one point or another :D

once you have bootstrap...then you can start to let your expectations run a little bit wild

OP you may want to try cruising the CM7 site and see if there is a way you can ask them about future DX2 support. Or follow them on twitter and ask them on there.

I would imagine at some time you will see CM7 for the DX2. But as stated above, the DX1 is still the main focus of the Dev's right now. Once the 2nd init is ported over to the DX2 then you will see a CM7 variant out for the DX2. Just don't see it right around the corner. Heck us DX1 owners had to wait 10 months to get CM7 on our phones if that gives you a time frame. I'm sure you won't have to wait that long.
