But nothing on the failure of voice search to work when there is background noise.
These phones have highly sensitive microphones... I dont think there is a fix for that if there is alot of background noise.

Anyone have an update on generic android icons showing up instead of the real app's icon in folders?
My voice search seems to be working the same as it always has. The only difference I have noticed took place before the update. When I do the voice search / speak now for text messages, I have to make sure that I give it an extra second before I start talking. Sometimes if I start talking too quick, I can say a whole sentence and it will not act like it hears anything. But if I click voice search, the window pops up, I wait a second, and then begin talking it seems to all work just fine.

So I have an Equinox 2011 with built in Bluetooth.
After upgrading my EVO to GB, my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth, but then will cycle between connecting / disconnecting automatically every minute or so. The timing is not consistent.
I unpaired then re-paired the phone with my car and it seems to only work when I do not give the car access to my phone book. When I give it access, it starts going through the cycle again. Or so it seems. I have to test it.
Anyone else having this issue?
I had the exact opposite problem (though I don't have an Equinox)... my phone running Froyo did what you describe. Once I upgraded to GB, it now works perfectly. Seems like you did find the workaround, just deny permission to access the phone book and ignore the errors and it works fine.
Bluetooth in the Android OS is not designed to stay connected at all times unless the paired device uses the 'Headset' profile. Bluetooth Car Kits generally utilize the 'Hands-free' profile to meet the requirements of its system.
The update to Android 2.3 also updates the Bluetooth profile on the device. Due to this, there may now be a compatibility conflict between your phone and the vehicle. I recommend checking with your local dealer to see if there are any updates for the Bluetooth firmware in your vehicle.
Finally, I recommend performing a factory reset on the device. Note that this will erase all of your personal data from the phone and reset it to the factory settings of the current ROM. Please ensure that your personal data has been backed up prior to resetting the device. To reset the device, go to: Home> Menu> Settings> SD & Phone Storage> Factory data reset. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the reset and evaluate the results. I do apologize for any inconvenience.
When I first installed the update it acted exactly as you describe.after some digging i noticed that HTC sense was automatically set as default. And even after choosing launcher pro and checking the box I still had to manually clear the ddefaults set for sense before it would finally act right...
I just did 4 restarts in a row, and all I have is Sense. WTF is going on here? How did you access the defaults for Sense? I was able to see that Launcher Pro had some defaults set, but I didn't want to reset those defaults. I'd love to find the setting to remove Sense as the default, but I don't see that in the running apps.
OK, so after the 5th restart...I did nothing special this time...I get Launcher Pro...but my wallpaper is back to default. That's easy enough to fix...but now, I am scared to restart. I figure I'll have to go through this everytime.
Do you see this as something Launcher Pro needs to overcome with Gingerbread, or something that Gingerbread needs to address?

Seriously?!? of all the forums and threads I've read never known that existed. I'm so tempted to give MyBackup Pro another chance and do a factory reset and see if that works
OMG! I've been posting on these forums for over 1 year now and never, ever saw that setting.
? - What exactly does "back up my setting" do? Anybody actually know?
Yes and I also clear voicemail through the call settings, which only seems to work for about 30 mins...then out of no where i get voicemail notifications lol

I must be dense...I can't find this.
When I go to the "Settings" menu, hitting the search button doesn't do anything.
I had that turned on when we swapped out wife's Shift - I couldn't find how to do the restore, so I have no idea how that works.![]()
