Help Brand new texting issue

Just started this week, but it has gotten progressively worse.

I try to type to text, but when I press spacebar the keyboard goes away. Also, sometimes the letters don't show up when I am typing.

What's this deal? Anyone have a problem with this?

I found this thread on my issue:

Keyboard keeps closing - CyanogenMod Forum

Can anyone decipher all this for me?

So while the issue is the same in the thread over at the CyanogenMod forum's, the difference is that they're using Cyanogen, and they're using it on either a HTC Dream or Magic. That thread won't be very useful.

The only theory they have on there that might be relevant is that your phone's software is running out of RAM, so it restarts the keyboard in order to free up some space. I have a feeling we would've run into this problem earlier if that was the case though.

Have you done any rooting or script editing in the phone?

Same issue.

only started today but it's really freaking annoying to have to restart the keyboard every word and to not see what I'm typing.

Restarting the phone doesn't seem to work

Yeah I actually JUST made an account to look up this issue. I had enough trouble with turning off my phone, only to turn it back on and have 1-2 people receive a random text message I sent them in conversation.

And yes, it is super annoying. Sometimes I can hit space and the keyboard won't disappear, most of the time it goes away. It's also annoying not seeing what I delete and type. This also just started happening to me last night.

Sorry to post 3 messages now, but I just read the forum and it stated to just reset everything to factory preset. Obviously that would require me backing everything up like contacts and such, but who is to say this won't happen again? I haven't downloaded anything illegal or tampered with anything. I just have regular apps like a weather channel app and an epsn app.

I have this issue with my droid also. I have wiped my phone and returned it to factory settings. Initially the problem with a keyboard disappearing is gone....... but after a short time the problem returns. Resetting your phone does not solve the problem.

My original DROID is updated to the same operating system and works flawlessly. DROID X2 isn't an upgrade if it doesn't work. I'm glad I still have Old Faithful First Edition DROID also.

I have an original first issue droid that works fine. Newer isn't always better it seems.

Im having the same problem, this is ridiculous I've only had this X2 for three weeks and im seriously contemplating wether or not I should go swap it out for an iphone 4...

odd, major bug in the texting platform, and obviously is happening to a lot of people...
Manage Applications> Multitask Keyboard> Clear Data

This worked for me as well, however under some words I get a blue dotted line...it's not the same as the red line when a word is mispelled. What is this blue dotted line??

I also have a new problem with texting, it started yesterday. As far as I can understand it's not the same as yours though.

When I'm texting the text flashes every now and then, when it does so it forgets what I was writing... Also my profile pic disappears ever time this happens but comes back a second after. It's really hard to explain... But yeah it's really annoying and it only happens when I text.

So any idea what I could do? I'm using a HTC desire s with 2.3.3 android and 2.1 sense.
